Emma Stone eager to fulfill dream of competing on 'Jeopardy!' despite failed attempts to secure spot
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Emma Stone wants to earn her stripes in ‘Jeopardy!’ and she is making an active case for the same.
In a recent conversation on Variety's 'Awards Circuit' podcast, Stone, the recent Golden Globe winner for her performance in 'Poor Things,' discussed her admiration for the intellectual game show and her unsuccessful attempts to participate as a contestant.
Emma Stone says ‘I apply every June’
Appearing on the Thursday, January 11 episode of the game show, Stone admitted, “[Jeopardy! is] my favorite show,” before adding candidly, “That’s my dream … I apply every June.”
During the roundtable discussion with Clayton Davis, Jenelle Riley, Jazz Tangcay, and Michael Schneider, the 35-year-old actress revealed her interest. The stars were surprised to discover that Stone had never been invited to participate in the show, including the celebrity version.
However, the ‘La La Land’ star’s lifelong dream has not been to compete in the celebrity version which is known for comparatively easier questions and rules.
She said, “I don’t want to go on Celebrity Jeopardy!” before admitting, “I really want to earn my stripes. I would like to go on real Jeopardy!”
She further shared that despite taking the ‘Jeopardy!’ test multiple times, she has not yet received a call for the show.
The two-time Golden Globe winner explained, “You can only take it once a year with your email address. So every June I take the quiz and they don’t tell you how you did,” per Us Weekly.
The 'Cruella' star continued, “They just say, ‘We’ll let you know in the next nine to 12 months if you got on the show.’ And guess what, I haven’t gotten on the show.”
Even though she hasn’t received the invite, Stone is confident that she will be able to make her mark on the show as she has been an ardent viewer for long.
She revealed, “I watch it every single night and I mark down how many answers I get right,” before adding, “I swear, I could go on Jeopardy!”
It now remains to be seen whether the ‘Jeopardy!’ makers respond to Stone’s case.
'Fire whoever is in charge of bringing on contestants'
Emma Stone's admission of wanting to be a part of 'Jeopardy!' took the internet in splits as they expressed their desire to participate in the game show only to be defeated by the Oscar-winning actress.
One of the fans quipped, "Suddenly my destiny has become clear: I am going to get in jeopardy after trying for 10 years and I am going to lose to Emma Stone."

"If Emma Stone ever makes it, I hope @jbisdaman is in the same episode competing against her since I know how much of a Jeopardy fiend he is....😳🤔😇," said someone else.

Another fan expressed their disbelief by saying, "There’s no way you have Emma Stone of all people actively trying to get on your show and you don’t roll out the red carpet doing whatever you can to bring her on."
