LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: LeBron James has made a move to prioritize his mental health by announcing a social media detox, but his decision has sparked controversy.

Fox Sports analyst Emmanuel Acho wasted no time mocking the NBA star’s hiatus, questioning why it was necessary for James to publicly announce his break to millions of followers.

Known for his frequent social media activity, James uses his platforms not only to share updates on new ventures, like his latest LeBron XXII colorways but also to support rising basketball stars and praise his teammates.

On November 21, Emmanuel Acho responded to LeBron James' announcement of his social media break during a segment on FS1 alongside co-hosts LeSean McCoy, James Jones, and Chase Daniel.

Acho, clearly passionate about his stance, expressed that he felt there was no need for James to publicly announce his departure from social media.

“You don’t have to announce you’re leaving social media. Just leave. No one is that important. We don’t actually care,” Acho said.

He also acknowledged the importance of mental well-being, adding, “I think everybody at some point in time should take a break from social media.”

Lakers star shared his message on November 21 via X (formerly Twitter), stating, “And with the said I'll holla at y'all!. Getting off social media for the time being. Y'll take care.” The post quickly went viral, amassing over 18.2 million views, 12,000 comments, and more than 106,000 likes within a day.

This isn’t the first time James has announced a social media hiatus, he previously did so ahead of the 2015 NBA playoffs.

While there was no mention of how long his break would last, the timing suggests he may be taking a focused, distraction-free approach. With the Lakers currently at 10-4 on the season, this could be a new chapter of “Zero Dark Thirty-23,” as a refreshed LeBron looks to stay focused on the game.

Another added, "Then here yall are ON NATIONAL TV talking about it but he ain’t that important 😭😭🤣🤣."

A third person added, "Don't care this much, yet y'all talking about it on air...... Can't make this s**t up 😂😂😂."

Someone else pointed out, "Important enough for you to talk about it on your show tho🤔."

A LeBron fan said, "Bruh why are you trying to police what ANYONE does on THEIR personal social media channels? You see regular people and celebrities do this all the time... It's letting THEIR fans/followers that they won't be hearing from them for a while if ever..."

One user commented, "Acho is a real life clown 🤡," while another referred to his comments as "just a hater in action."
