The 56-year-old progressive political commentator's evening news show, 'The ReidOut', which had been on air since 2020, was reportedly called off as part of a lineup overhaul led by Rebecca Kutler, the network's new president.
Reid's exit from MSNBC was confirmed by Kutler in a memo to staff on Monday afternoon.
Teary-eyed Joy Reid asserts her 'show had value' after it's axed by MSNBC
Joy Reid said during the podcast, "I’ve been through every emotion from, you know anger, rage, disappointment….guilt...that I let my team lose their jobs."
Reid has previously faced backlash for her remarks about White people, including referring to "white tears" and a statement that White women "did not show up" to vote for Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election, as per the outlet.

A defiant Reid further said, "I’m not sorry. I am not sorry that I stood up for those those things" as she ticked off issues that her show, 'The ReidOut' regularly covered.
Issues such as Black Lives Matter, Asian Americans being targeted, Gaza, and immigrants were a regular part of her show.
She added, "But in the end, where I really land… is just gratitude. Just pure gratitude and gratitude. Not just because people would take the time to get on a call like this or to take care of me. But also that my show had value."
Along with canceling Reid's show, MSNBC shuffled several other anchors and canceled shows hosted by Ayman Mohyeldin, Katie Phang, and Jonathan Capehart, as per the New York Post.
Reid's program will reportedly be replaced by a panel show co-hosted by Alicia Menendez, Symone Sanders Townsend, and Michael Steele.

Donald Trump celebrates the cancellation of Joy Reid’s MSNBC show
Donald Trump did not hold himself back as he took to social media to celebrate the cancellation of Joy Reid’s MSNBC show.
He wrote on Truth Social, "Lowlife Chairman of 'Concast,' Brian Roberts, the owner of Ratings Challenged NBC and MSDNC, has finally gotten the nerve up to fire one of the least talented people in television, the mentally obnoxious racist, Joy Reid."
The president added, "Based on her ratings, which were virtually non-existent, she should have been “canned” long ago, along with everyone else who works there."
Notably, MSNBC has been losing viewers and January was its worst-rated month ever in the all-important 25-54 demographic.
