LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: More than a decade after the premiere of the hit legal drama 'Suits' on USA Network, stars Patrick J Adams and Sarah Rafferty have announced their plans to revisit the series through a new rewatch podcast, as per Deadline.

The duo, who portrayed the iconic characters, Mike Ross and Donna Paulsen, respectively, have partnered with SiriusXM to host an untitled podcast series that promises to take fans behind the scenes of the show's nine-season run.

'Suits' became a cultural phenomenon following its premiere in 2011

Premiering on USA Network in 2011, 'Suits' quickly became a cultural phenomenon, following the exploits of Mike (Adams) and Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) as they navigate the cutthroat world of corporate law. Rafferty's portrayal of the iconic Donna, Harvey's trusted confidante and legal secretary, was a fan favorite.

Over its nine-season run, 'Suits' garnered critical acclaim and a devoted fanbase. However, after the series finale in 2019, the show seemed destined to fade into obscurity – until it found a new life on Netflix. The streaming giant's acquisition of 'Suits' in 2021 led to a resurgence in popularity, breaking viewership records and reigniting interest in the show.

This unexpected success paved the way for a pilot order for 'Suits: LA,' a spin-off from creator Aaron Korsh, and even saw the core cast (Adams, Rafferty, Macht, and Gina Torres) presenting at the Golden Globes in 2024.

'Suits' rewatch podcast is part of a larger trend in the entertainment industry

Capitalizing on this renewed enthusiasm, Adams and Rafferty have now signed a deal with SiriusXM to host a 'Suits' rewatch podcast. The as-yet-untitled show will see the duo breaking down each episode, sharing behind-the-scenes stories, and welcoming special guests from the cast and crew.

This venture is part of a larger trend in the entertainment industry, with numerous beloved shows receiving their own rewatch podcasts. From 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' to 'The Office' and 'Parks and Recreation,' actors and creators are cashing in on nostalgia by revisiting their past successes.

SiriusXM, no stranger to this phenomenon, is also behind popular rewatch podcasts like 'Office Ladies' and 'Parks & Recollection.'

News of 'Suits' rewatch podcast triggers outpour of discontent across social media

The news of a 'Suits' rewatch podcast failed to resonate positively with the online community, triggering an outpour of discontent. One user on the X platform bluntly stated, "abolish this specific genre of podcasting," while another remarked, "There are few phrases more pathetic than 'rewatch podcast.'"

A third user confessed, "Something about the sudden surge in this genre of podcasts (hosted by former costars of old popular nostalgic TV series) SCARES me." Another user took a jab at the actors' career prospects, musing, "You know actors ain't getting bookings when they start a podcast about their show."

The disdain didn't stop there, as a fifth user chimed in, "Underemployed TV actors starting a rewatch podcast of their old successful show will never not be sad and pathetic to me," while a sixth user pleaded, "END THE EPIDEMIC OF REWATCH PODCASTS."

In a particularly biting remark, a seventh user suggested, "When your career didn’t take off like you hoped, just create your own podcast."
