WASHINGTON, DC: Californian Democratic representative Eric Swalwell has launched an online attack against President Donald Trump and his top officials in an Instagram video on Tuesday, December 30, 2025.

The representative referred to White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles’ recent interview with Vanity Fair, noting that he would launch an investigation into the feature, to figure out whether Trump was weaponizing the justice system.

In the social media video, posted on Monday, Eric Swalwell attacked the Trump administration, stating that he wanted them to hear it from him first. He added that he was 'going on offence' against the president and put 'senior Trump officials on notice.'

He accused the president of trying to 'weaponize' the Department of Justice and of going after his enemies.

“That’s me, Adam Schiff, Tish James, and Lisa Cook,” he added.

The representative further commented on Susie Wiles’ recent Vanity Fair interview, after which the White House Chief of Staff slammed the publication for twisting the truth to make Donald Trump look bad.

Chiming in on the same, Swalwell said that people could think that it looked vindictive, adding that he couldn’t think of a reason to argue otherwise. He added that he didn’t think President Trump woke up 'thinking about retribution,' but would take the shot whenever the opportunity would present itself.

“Your emails, your text messages, everything that records or documents Donald Trump going after his political enemies,” he said.

The rep further stated that 'they' were coming after it because they wanted the 'truth.' He also wanted to know what Trump knew, and what his orders were. Swalwell also questioned what others did on his behalf, noting that those on Trump’s “enemy list” were not “going away.”

“And the American people are always going to choose the truth over Trump,” he concluded.

Susie Wiles slams Vanity Fair

Soon after the Vanity Fair article was published, Susie Wiles slammed the publication for fabricating the truth. She called the article a 'disingenuous hit piece' on her and the White House staff.

She claimed that 'significant context' had been disregarded and much of what she said about different members of the Trump administration had been 'left out of the story.' Wiles added that it was intentionally done to portray a negative narrative about the president and his administration.
