Erika Jayne likens Congress to 'Real Housewives,' says it feels like 'one really long reunion'
WASHINGTON, DC: Reality star Erika Jayne thinks the US Congress looks exactly like a dramatic episode of the 'Real Housewives.'
The TV star on Wednesday, March 18, pointed out that the constant bickering between politicians is very similar to the drama seen on her own hit show.
Jayne compares congressional interaction to reality show screaming match
While walking through the halls of the US Capitol, not far from House Speaker Mike Johnson's office, Jayne explained that the atmosphere in Washington DC felt familiar to her.
She noted that the way lawmakers interact with one another reminds her of the intense finale episodes of her show, where cast members often lose their temper and stop listening to each other.
"It feels like Congress is one really long reunion," the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star told USA TODAY.
Jayne expressed a sincere desire for more teamwork in the government, asking, "Can we please get to a place where we talk to one another? Stop fighting?"
Jayne was not alone, as she was joined by other famous faces from the Bravo network, including NeNe Leakes from Atlanta and Luann de Lesseps from New York City.
The group traveled to Capitol Hill on March 18 to talk about the importance of HIV prevention and to help spread awareness for the cause.
Erika Jayne claims she has talent for political success
When the conversation turned to who has a harder job, the reality stars or the lawmakers, Jayne joked that she would actually be a good politician.
She has faced her own share of public scandals and personal drama in recent years, which she believes makes her quite similar to many people working in the Capitol building.
When discussing her ability to handle the pressure of political life, Jayne appeared confident in her skills. "Oh, I could throw down in here," Jayne said. "What do you want me to do? Give me the topic, and then give me the plan, and I'm roaring."
Jayne slams gridlock and TSA delays
Despite the jokes, Jayne expressed sadness and worry about the current state of the country. She was particularly disappointed with the month-long shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security, which caused major problems for travelers.
She pointed out that even wealthy celebrities have to deal with the long wait times and frustration caused by politicians being unable to agree on a plan.
"The TSA lines are ridiculous," she said, frustrated by how the gridlock in Washington affects everyone. "We don't need this."
