Eva Mendes reveals whether she will return to acting after over a decade away from Hollywood

After reaching a career-high alongside her husband Ryan Gosling in 'The Place Beyond The Pines', the 50-year-old actress, who took a step back from acting, revealed the real reason behind her decision recently.

During a recent interview on 'Good Morning America', Eva reflected on her career choices and her reluctance to return to acting, “I don’t know [when I’ll return]. If there’s interesting roles. I left at a time where... it was ten years ago... I kind of felt like I did it, you know?” 

Her decision to step away from the spotlight seems deeply rooted in her experience working with Gosling on 'The Place Beyond The Pines'.

That film was more than just a project—it was a turning point in both her personal and professional life.

Mendes said, “I was like, ‘I just worked with Ryan Gosling, who is the best.’ It was such a high off my career to work with him and what we created together that I was like, ‘This is a good time to Seinfeld it and just walk out.’”

Though fans might miss her on-screen presence, Eva has certainly kept herself busy.

Earlier this year, Eva opened up about the “non-verbal agreement” she and Gosling have regarding her decision to step back from acting and focus on their daughters.

“It was almost just like a non-verbal agreement that it was like, ‘Okay, he’s going to work and I’m going to work, I’m just going to work here,’” Mendes revealed, speaking about the way they balance their careers and parenting roles.

Gosling, of course, has continued to shine on screen, recently starring in the global hit 'Barbie'.

Mendes, meanwhile, praised his work ethic, saying, “The way he works, his commitment to his craft, how he wants to make everything as best as it can be, and that means making his co-stars as best as they can be... But unfortunately – or fortunately – there is only one Ryan!”

Despite their strong bond, Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling tend to keep their relationship private, rarely making joint public appearances.

According to Daily Mail, when a fan recently asked why she didn’t accompany him to the 'Barbie' premieres, Mendes candidly responded, “But we don’t do those things together... Like these photos I’ve been posting, I’m only comfortable posting because it’s already out there.”

Indeed, their one red-carpet moment together was over a decade ago, promoting 'The Place Beyond The Pines'.

However, fans were treated to a rare family sighting during the Olympic Games in Paris this summer.

Mendes, Gosling, and their daughters turned heads as they made their way to the Dressage Individual Grand Prix Freestyle, holding hands and enjoying the international spectacle.
