PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: The Republican Party witnessed the overwhelming victory of former President Donald Trump over an extensive field of GOP presidential contenders.

During Wednesday’s exclusive interview on Newsmax's ‘Greg Kelly Reports', Trump expressed his amusement at the mainstream media's claim that nobody in Washington wants to work with him.

The 77-year-old MAGA strongman asserted that everybody wants to be in these coveted positions, including those in the Democratic Party.

But Trump emphasized that a Democrat would not be his ultimate pick for the vice-presidential candidate.

Instead, he aims to select an individual who would be a conservative hardliner and posited that his choice for the position of vice president would be made after careful consideration of the candidate's qualities and values.

What did Donald Trump say during his interview with Greg Kelly?

The former POTUS spoke with Newsmax host Greg Kelly on a range of topics in the exclusive interview on Wednesday, March 13, at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida.

Trump unleashed on the mainstream media, by referring to them as “fake news” and argued, “I get a kick out of watching the fake news media say, Nobody wants to work with him; nobody wants to be vice president; nobody wants to be secretary of state. Everybody wants to be in these positions.”

He further emphasized his point, by saying, "There's is not a person in politics that doesn't want it, and that includes Democrats. If I wanted, I'd have a Democrat; I'd have a liberal; I'd have ... anybody I want."

The 2024 Republican presidential nominee conceded that in the end, a Democrat will not be his running mate going into November, and assured his ever-ardent supporters that his VP pick has to be someone who’s a conservative through and through.

"But we're going to pick somebody that's really good, really conservative; loves law and order, low taxes, low interest rates, borders," Trump continued. "We have to have the border. The border is killing our country."

In terms of the pick, Trump claims he has it "in his brain" but is not releasing it - despite the fact that many potential names have been floated in the media.

"It's the formal processes in my brain," Trump said, implying that he alone is making the decision.

"I look at the same people that everybody else is looking at. We've had some really great people,” he added.

"I think we have really great people that want it. People have ... expressed, 'I would love to be vice president.' Who wouldn't? If you're a politician, who wouldn't want it?" Trump remarked.

Trump admitted that several GOP primary competitors' names had been omitted from the shortlist.

"I'd probably have a couple of people — that you may know very well — some people that I didn't think behaved properly," the former president commented. "Yeah, I think I've ruled some people out, but I've ruled a lot of people in.

"And we have a lot of great people in the Republican Party. And they'll do a terrific job, I think. But certainly, I have people that I wouldn't want as a vice president," he observed.

However, Trump concluded that the final selection, which might take weeks, will not be unexpected or out of the blue.

"The press covers the people that are being thought about," he noted. "It's unusual that you pick somebody totally out of that, and there are 15 people they talk about, and that list grows every day.”
