NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Former Republican National Committee official Doug Heye voiced his support for CNN's Kasie Hunt during his appearance on the June 24, Monday, segment of 'Special Report' on Fox News.

Earlier on June 24, Trump spokesperson Karoline Leavitt appeared on CNN's 'This Morning' and repeatedly criticized Jake Tapper and Dana Bash, claiming they "have made their opinions about [Trump] very well known". But host Kasie Hunt ended the tumultuous interview abruptly after cautioning Leavitt against attacking her colleagues.

During the June 24 segment of 'Special Report', Fox News host Bret Baier showcased a clip of the incident.

"It would take someone five minutes to Google ‘Jake Tapper, Donald Trump’ to see that Jake Tapper has consistently–” Leavitt was seen saying in the clip before Hunt interrupted her.

“Ma’am, we’re gonna stop this interview if you’re gonna keep attacking my colleagues,” Hunt said before cutting bait.

“It’s odd to me that maybe this anchor was not entirely prepared for that to go down the way that it did,” said Fox News correspondent Gillian Turner. “These are standard Trump campaign talking points. It’s not as if she proposed something that blew everybody’s minds that we hadn’t heard of before.”

However, Heye, who occasionally appears as a guest on CNN, came to the host's defense.

“I talked to Kasie Hunt earlier today,” he said. “She’s a good friend. And I know that if I came on this show and gave out all the things that I find objectionable about Shannon Bream – there is zero by the way – you wouldn’t put up with that.”

“Evil Shannon Bream?” Baier joked.

“Exactly,” Heye responded. “You wouldn’t put up with that. And I think Kasie was very right to defend her colleagues. That’s what you do. She did her job. I think she should be commended for it… You’re gonna have a tough time on your hands when you get campaign surrogates on your show. That happens everywhere. But you’re gonna stand up for your colleague. That’s normal.”

“Yeah,” Baier replied. “She could’ve moved on and come back to a different topic. But I get it.”

CNN is set to host the first presidential debate of this cycle between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump on June 27, with Jake Tapper and Dana Bash serving as moderators.
