WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump’s supporters are shifting their campaign tactics to link Kamala Harris with Barack Obama, aiming to undermine the momentum gained by the vice president since Joe Biden's exit from the 2024 race.

As initial attempts to associate Harris with Biden’s policies failed to diminish her growing appeal, the GOP appears to have shifted the strategy to target independent voters who might have had reservations about Obama's presidency, hoping to sway undecided voters ahead of the election.

This tactic became clear when Fox Business Network guest host Monica Crowley, who served as the Assistant Secretary of the Treasury under Trump, recently described the vice president as "Obama in a skirt."

Monica Crowley claims Democrats are trying to create momentum around Kamala Harris based on identity politics

Monica Crowley suggested that the Democrat Party and the mainstream media are attempting to portray the vice president as a significant breakthrough, akin to the first Black president.

"They are trying to sell her as Obama in a skirt," stated the political commentator, adding, "Basically, trying to create momentum around Kamala Harris based on identity politics, the fact that she’s a woman of color and would be the first woman of color as president."

She criticized Harris' swift transition from being "historically the most unpopular vice president in recent American history" to the "belle of the ball" in media narratives.

When asked how the Trump campaign planned to counter this messaging, the former president's spokesperson, Caroline Sunshine, responded, "We’re watching Kamala Harris get the Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama treatment from the liberal mainstream media and the Democrat Party."

She added, "The trouble is that the Democrat Party and the mainstream media have the same blinders on that they had way back in 2016. It’s almost the exact same playbook."

Internet reacts as Monica Crowley calls Kamala Harris 'Obama in a skirt'

Monica Crowley's "Obama in a skirt" comment about Kamala Harris backfired as netizens appeared to use it against her.

One said, "Weird ... but then Obama was two terms as president, so what's their point exactly?" and another wrote, "And how would that be a bad thing? We did well under Obama."

A person declared, "We like Obama. We like women in skirts. We even like men in skirts. Not really seeing the problem here." Someone else expressed, "That's why we like her."

"Thank you for noticing. This is a good thing plus it's nice watching maga melt like chocolate over a powerful woman," remarked another person.

An individual noted, "I’m sure @VP would take it as a compliment to be compared to @BarackObama . But remember, she only wears pants suits."
