According to the rumor, Shawn Corey Carter, also known as rapper Jay-Z, and his wife, singer Beyonce, have broken up and are heading towards a divorce.
The X post that made the claim even cited an entertainment news media outlet, TMZ, as the source of the rumor.
According to the post, Jay-Z's name appearing in the newly released documents related to the convicted offender is the reason why the couple is getting separated.
The post has garnered almost one and a half million views and thousands of likes and comments as of this writing.
Fact Check: The claim is not true
The claim, however, is false as there is no evidence supporting the claim. A search on TMZ’s official site does not produce any results supporting the claim.
If the claim were true, it would have made headlines in the prominent entertainment media outlets.
Moreover, the page that posted the claim is a popular parody account called Pop Rhyme, which often posts such fake news for the sake of engagement.
A fact check by Grok, the AI assistant of X, confirmed the rumor as false, stating, “No credible sources, including TMZ, confirm Beyoncé and Jay-Z have split or are divorcing due to Epstein files as of February 8, 2026. Rumors exist, but no divorce filings or official statements. Recent timelines show they're still together.”
Release of millions of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein
The claim came following the release of millions of additional pages of records connected to Epstein on January 30 by the Department of Justice, in which Jay-Z's name came up.
Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said the release also included more than 2,000 videos and 180,000 images.
The decision came after weeks of criticism that the department was not following a federal law passed in November, which required all Epstein-related files to be made public by December 19.
Among the newly released materials is an FBI compilation of allegations involving President Donald Trump, many of which appear to be based on unverified tips rather than substantiated evidence.
