Claim: Woman decides to divorce her husband because he booed Taylor Swift at Super Bowl LIX

A video from the TikTok account @loulouorange has been shared on social media platforms such as X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, and TikTok, sparking intense reactions regarding her drastic step.

The TikTok video's caption read, "It sucks to start over, but it would suck far worse to raise my future girls with a father who thinks it's acceptable to publicly jeer at a woman just for existing."

The woman said in the video, "I'm divorcing my husband because he booed Taylor Swift at the Super Bowl. I still don't think he believes me, to be honest, but he might want to start. Because I just filed my paperwork at the courthouse and you can see right here. The date of separation is this year's Super Bowl."

She added, "I'm not just doing this because of the action of booing. I am doing this because of everything it represents in our relationship. I have loved Taylor Alison Swift since I was 12 years old. My husband even likes her too. Like, he'll put on her music when we're cooking together, he has a favorite song. It's 'Girl at Home'."

"But we were at the Super Bowl. It was me, him, and five of his buddies, and when they put Taylor up on the Jumbotron, all of his buddies started booing and my husband joined in.  And that just tells me everything I need to know about that man because he didn't care that that would hurt my feelings," the woman expressed.

"He just wanted to fit in with his boys. He didn't even care that that's not how he actually feels. He just wanted to look cool, I guess. And that's not a man. That's a boy. And when you see that, you can't really unsee it. So I'm divorcing him," the TikTok creator concluded.

Fact Check: The viral TikTok video is a satire

While the video is authentic, the content is meant to be satirical, according to fact-checking website Snopes.

The outlet reported that the woman behind the @loulouorange account, Louisa Melcher, was a social media comedian who had built her following by posting stories meant to blur the line between reality and fiction.

Melcher has shared many such stories on her social media, delivering them with a straight face. Many of those stories had inconsistent details about her personal life.

In one video, Melcher claimed that she "flew to Los Angeles to visit my bf for Valentine's Day," per Snopes.

Her followers are aware that her videos are satire. In October 2024, she posted a video about petty drama at her high school in which a user commented, "I fall for your video every single time."
