LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: A claim that Angel Reese compared herself to Michael Jordan has recently been circulating on social media.

The Chicago Sky player, who has lately been in the news for her alleged prolonged feud with Indiana Fever's Caitlin Clark and not-so-good performance, is said to have made the comparison during an interview, as reported by Marca.

The 23-year-old was even slammed by OutKick founder Clay Travis, who accused her of defaming the Chicago Bulls legend by making the comparison.

Claim: Angel Reese said she modeled her game after Michael Jordan

Marca reported that while giving an interview, when Angel Reese was asked whom she modeled her game after, she named Michael Jordan.

She allegedly said, “I modeled my game after him [Michael Jordan] as a kid," before supposedly adding, “I used to mimic everything he did on the court, both offensively and defensively. We're very similar players."

The same was reflected in several posts made on X (formerly Twitter).

Outkick founder Clay Travis seemed to have picked up on this, as he went as far as to say that Jordan should consider suing Reese. He posted on X, “Michael Jordan should sue Angel Reese for defamation.”

Internet trolls Angel Reese over alleged comparison to Michael Jordan

The alleged statements by Angel Reese soon blew up online, with several netizens mocking the 23-year-old for saying such a thing.

One tweeted, “Surely she meant Deandre Jordan 🤔🤔,” referring to a Denver Nuggets player. Another sarcastically wrote, “They both wear shoes when they play, . . . that's about it.”

A person remarked, “Ben Wallace or Dennis Rodman are better answers, IMO,” while someone else added, “Jordan reading this,” sharing a meme of Jordan crying while looking at his phone.

“She plays nothing like em,” an individual bluntly wrote, and another added, “Either she watched the Wrong Jordan or her mimic skills are... Bad.”

“When did she stop mimicking him because Jordan could make a layup in 3rd grade. She still haven’t mastered that part,” another tweet read.

There is no substantial proof that she made such a statement about modelling her game after Michael Jordan or compared herself to him. There is no video of her apparent interview as well.

One of the tweets trending online has been attributed to an X handle by the name of NBACentel. The bio of the handle clearly mentions it is a parody account. So it can be argued that a piece of satire was blown out of proportion.

Reese is one of the most talked-about names in basketball right now.

The star player is used to getting hate, but it has gotten much worse in 2025, mostly because she hasn’t been playing well on the court. And the bold MJ comparison may have worked to fuel the trolls to work harder.

However, without any proof to back up the claim about her MJ comparison, we can safely say Reese is in the clear with this one.
