WASHINGTON, DC: A rumor has been circulating on social media platforms claiming that billionaire Elon Musk has slammed investor George Soros, calling him the greatest adversary of the United States, garnering support from conservative accounts and attacks against Soros.

Let us analyse the origins of the viral claim and fact-check its authenticity.

According to the viral post, Musk says one of this country's greatest adversaries is none other than George Soros

"He spends half of his wealth influencing elections and paying professional protesters and rioters," Musk allegedly said, "It's about time someone showed him how powerless he can be. I could buy and sell him dozens of times over."

The post was also accompanied by a picture of both Musk and Soros with an overlay text stating, “Elon Musk says he’s making it his mission to ruin George Soros.”

The claim spread on Facebook and Threads, with comments indicating that many believe the remark to be authentic.

Fact Check: The post was intended as a parody

However, there is no evidence that Musk made such a remark about the 95-year-old investor. A search on Google for the ‘country’s greatest adversity’ remark yielded no credible results, which, if true, would have been widely reported by prominent news media outlets such as Fox News

The claim that Musk has made his mission to ruin Soros is also unsupported by credible evidence.

A closer look at the image that accompanied the post reveals a watermark that states, ‘Nothing on this page is real.’ Hence, the claim is yet another conspiracy theory likely made to defame Soros.

False conspiracy theories continue to target George Soros

Soros has frequently been the subject of online conspiracy theories portraying him as influencing global politics, funding unrest, and controlling governments behind the scenes.

These narratives often rely on repeated misinformation patterns and lack credible evidence. Fact-checking organizations consistently debunk such claims, highlighting how satire and false content continue to circulate widely on social platforms.

Similar claims about Soros surfaced last week, including the rumor that his naturalization application was under review by the State Department and that he secretly paid Barack Obama to run Joe Biden’s government.
