Fact Check: Did Jimmy Kimmel kick Elon Musk off his talk show after a tense exchange?

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Talk show host Jimmy Kimmel and Tesla CEO Elon Musk have had a go at each other in the recent past following the vandalism at the electric vehicle company.
In March, Kimmel poked fun at Musk and Tesla amid protests and arson attacks against the electric car company. Musk branded him an "unfunny jerk" for the jokes he made about Tesla, per the Independent.
Recently, a rumor circulated online claiming that Jimmy Kimmel kicked Elon Musk off his talk show after a tense exchange, eventually never airing the interview. But is there any truth to this? Let us find out below.
Claim: Jimmy Kimmel kicked Elon Musk off his talk show
In April 2025, videos circulated online claiming that Jimmy Kimmel kicked Elon Musk, an adviser to President Donald Trump, off his late-night show 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!'
The video was shared by YouTube accounts 'Visionary Tales' and 'Elite Vault', and showed images of Musk and Kimmel along with a voice-over detailing a disagreement they had during the interview, according to Snopes.
Interestingly, both the videos described a slightly differing version of a purported clash where Musk accused Kimmel of ambushing him with pointed political questions, and eventually left the stage.
The video posted by 'Elite Vault' was titled 'Jimmy Kimmel Kicks Elon Musk Off His Show - What Happened Next Left America Speechless!'
The description of the clip read, "When Elon Musk appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live, no one expected the night to spiral into one of the most talked-about media moments of the year. What began as a casual interview quickly turned tense, with sarcastic jabs and pointed questions that pushed Elon to his limit. Moments later, Kimmel abruptly cut the segment—and Elon was escorted off stage. But the real story didn't air."
Meanwhile, the description from 'Visionary Tales' clip stated, "In a surprising turn of events, Elon Musk and Jimmy Kimmel engage in a tense exchange during a talk show appearance. What began as a casual conversation quickly escalates into a heated moment that leaves the audience stunned. This fictional scenario imagines what could happen when strong personalities clash on live TV."
False: Both the videos are from accounts that post fictional narratives
The claims made in the viral videos are false as both the videos were uploaded from accounts that post fictional narratives and did not have any substantial evidence to back the claim, per Snopes.
Moreover, both the videos originated from YouTube channels known for posting fictional stories, and also have disclaimers at the bottom of each caption, per the fact-checking outlet.

The caption of one of the videos read, "The stories presented on this channel are entirely fictional and crafted solely for entertainment."
Similarly, the caption of the video by 'Visionary Tales' read, "This video is a fictional story created for entertainment purposes only. Any resemblance to real persons, events, or situations is purely coincidental."
The feud between Jimmy Kimmel and Elon Musk
Though the claims made in the viral videos are not true, it must be noted that the tech billionaire and the talk show host aren't the best of friends.
The two recently took a shot at each other during the recent Tesla vandalism that took place across the US.
During the protests and vandalism against Tesla, Kimmel poked fun at Musk during his March 19 edition of 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' after Musk responded to the protesters by calling them “deranged” during a Fox News interview, per the Independent.
Leftists in the audience go wild over an American EV company’s stock dropping — as Kimmel then mocks Teslas being “vandalized."

Kimmel said, "Well, let me see if I can explain it for you: When you pull out a chainsaw to celebrate firing thousands of people, they get mad."
"My god. I mean, this poor guy. You do one, maybe two Nazi salutes, everybody gets all bent out of shape!," he added.
Musk responded to the clip and wrote on X, "What a jerk."
He posted again after a few minutes, and wrote, "He’s such an unfunny jerk."
