Fact Check: Does Diddy's LA home have an underground bunker connected to Hugh Hefner's mansion?

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Recent social media posts have reignited an old rumor claiming that Sean "Diddy" Combs' Los Angeles mansion is connected by an underground tunnel to Hugh Hefner's mansion.

The speculation intensified following multiple posts on X (formerly Twitter) that sought to prove the existence of concealed tunnels connecting the two properties.

Claim: Diddy's LA home is connected to Hugh Hefner's mansion

Multiple posts circulating on X (formerly Twitter) suggested this connection, with one of the tweets promoting the viral claim writing that Google Earth also showed the two mansions 'practically next door to each other...and on the same PARALLEL as the Getty - what are the odds they're all connected underground?"

Another post, dated September 20, posted about an alleged "underground tunnel" connection from one of Diddy's homes to Hugh Hefner's mansion.

Debunking the viral rumor

This is not the first time such rumors have circulated. Similar claims were made on X in November of last year and earlier this year again in March, but these were later debunked.

A viral screenshot that purportedly showed CNN reporting on underground tunnels at Diddy’s residence was confirmed to be fabricated. “That is a manipulated image and not something CNN reported,” CNN representative Emily Kuhn said in an email.

None of the reports on CNN’s website, or its social media accounts, mention the discovery of underground tunnels during the raids on Combs' properties.

According to a 2014 report by the Los Angeles Times, the home does feature a pool with "a grotto connected by an underwater swimming tunnel." However, there are no credible reports confirming the existence of other “underground tunnels” on the property.

Therefore, it can be reasonably concluded that this rumor is untrue.

The reality of Diddy’s mansion

While Diddy did purchase a mansion in the Holmby Hills area of Los Angeles for $40 million in 2014, it has no verified underground tunnel connecting it to Hugh Hefner's mansion, as reported by Tribune.com.

The mansion, spanning 17,000 square feet, features luxurious amenities including a lagoon-style swimming pool with a grotto and an underwater swimming tunnel, but there is no mention of any underground connections to Hugh Hefner's mansion.

Diddy's legal troubles and arrest

The ongoing speculation about his property comes after Sean Combs was arrested on September 16 at a luxury hotel in New York City. He is facing serious charges including, racketeering, trafficking and allegations of organizing "freak off parties". He is currently imprisoned at Brooklyn jail and his next court appearance has been scheduled for October 9.

The following day, he appeared in Manhattan Federal Court, where he pleaded "not guilty" but was denied bail.
