LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Celebrity death hoaxes have unfortunately become a growing trend in the digital era.

Recently, a shocking rumor claiming actor and comedian Terry Crews had died swept across social media, leaving fans stunned and emotional.

This hoax added to the long list of fake celebrity death reports, with a similar one about Tia Mowry, twin sister of Tamera Mowry, making headlines just weeks before — though it was quickly debunked as fake.

Rumors about Terry Crews’ death

Rumors were rife recently that 'America's Got Talent' host Terry Crews had died. His fans were naturally left devastated over this.

The death hoax gained traction through social media posts and misleading reports. Monsters & Critics did not independently verify the origin of the hoax but some sources suggest it began on Facebook.

Known for his roles in 'The Expendables 2' and 'Everybody Hates Chris', this is not the first time Crews became the subject of a death rumor. A few years earlier, a Facebook page had posted "RIP Terry Crews" and it quickly garnered millions of likes.

The post included a detailed message stating, "At about 11 am ET on Sunday (June 02, 2013), our beloved actor Terry Crews passed away. Terry Crews was born on July 30, 1968 in Flint. He will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting on and liking this page."

This prompted many fans to express their grief and share condolences in the comment section. However, some fans were quick to point out that the report seemed fake, as it had not been covered by any major American news outlets.

Eventually, the news proved to be fake after Crews' reps officially confirmed on June 3 that he was alive. “He joins the long list of celebrities who have been victimized by this hoax. He's still alive and well, stop believing what you see on the Internet,” they said.

Despite the rumors circulating online recently, there are no credible reports to confirm Terry Crews' death. His death has also not been reported by any official sources.

In fact, Crews shared an Instagram post on January 2 where he appeared healthy and without any signs of health issues. His post caption strongly refuted the rumors, stating, "So many blessings in 2024!!! Feeling thankful, grateful, and energized for an amazing 2025. Love y’all!!!!!"

According to Distractify, Crews also made a public appearance at the Rose Parade on New Year's Day in Pasadena, California, where he participated alongside Mayor Victor Gordo. This event further confirms that Crews is alive and active.

On January 3, Friday, he posted an advertisement for MyProtein on his Instagram, accompanied by the caption, "Why would you want to be a supporting character in your own life?" He also shared the same post on his Instagram Story shortly afterward.

Crews' social media posts and recent public appearance confirm that he is alive and there is no truth whatsoever in the death rumors. Crews continues to thrive both professionally and personally, recently starring in 'Everybody Still Hates Chris' and 'The Killer’s Game'.

Last year, high-profile figures, including Steve Harvey, Mark Henry, and Serena Williams, had become victims of death hoaxes. Harvey was falsely reported dead due to an AI-generated error, which caused widespread concern until he reassured fans via social media.
