WASHINGTON, DC: Ever since Donald Trump took office as the 47th President of the United States, his administration has paid keen attention to one issue - removing illegal immigrants - and the administration accelerated raids in the latter half of 2025.

On Thursday, January 15, a senior White House aide claimed in a social media post that under former President Joe Biden's administration, the US was 'mass invaded and forcibly occupied by illegal aliens'. But is there any truth to his statement? Let us find out below.

Claim: Stephen Miller says US was mass invaded by illegal aliens under Biden

Stephen Miller took to X on Thursday and wrote, "Every day, for the prior 4 years under the Biden Administration, our country was mass invaded and forcibly occupied by illegal aliens. Innocent American children were mutilated and murdered. Entire towns (Springfield, Columbus, Eu Claire) were resettled. Entire neighborhoods were turned into refugee camps. Entire communities were transformed."

He further claimed, "Schools and medical systems were ravaged. The treasury raided. Walkable communities made unlivable. Family parks made into crime scenes. Communities scarred, besieged. These are incomparable crimes against nation and citizen."

"Yet, not one day in that long and brutal nightmare did the corrupt press show one tiny microscopic fraction of the outrage they now hurl at the brave HEROES courageously reversing this invasion in the face of unceasing far-left assault. That is because the corrupt press is a key instrument in the Left’s quest for national dissolution," the senior White House concluded.

Fact Check: Border encounters were high under Biden administration

The border encounters were indeed high under the Biden administration. The House Committee on Homeland Security, in its October 2024 factsheet, showed that total nationwide encounters since FY2021 closed in on 11 million, compared to just 3.1 million from FY2017-2020, under the Trump era.

Since FY2021, Border Patrol agents have recorded 56,154 arrests of aliens with criminal convictions or outstanding warrants nationwide. On the other hand, Border Patrol arrested 21,936 people from FY2017-FY2020.

Moreover, CBP encountered 62,897 single adults, 36,718 family unit individuals, and 6,604 unaccompanied alien children (UACs) at the Southwest border. Since FY2021, Border Patrol agents have recorded 56,154 arrests of aliens with criminal convictions or outstanding warrants nationwide, the factsheet mentioned.

Meanwhile, an August 2024 report by the DHS Office of Inspector General found that since FY2019, more than 291,000 UACs were not even given Notices to Appear in court. Under the Biden-Harris administration, CBP has encountered more than 500,000 UACs at the Southwest border, compared to around 221,000 from FY2017-2020.
