BRANSON, MISSOURI: A story claiming that a newborn in Branson, Missouri, had been named "MAGA Trump Jr" — a nod to President Donald Trump and his iconic "Make America Great Again" slogan — recently went viral.

On April 18, the Branson Area Breaking News Facebook page dropped what looked like the photo of a new mom in a hospital bed, clutching her newborn, and both rocking those red MAGA hats.

Claim: A baby born at a Missouri hospital was named 'MAGA Trump Jr'

The Facebook post was titled, "Newborn named 'MAGA' born at Cox Medical Center Branson."

It stated, "A baby born at Cox Medical Center in Branson, Missouri, has been named 'MAGA Trump Jr,' referencing the slogan 'Make America Great Again.' The child's birth has already sparked conversations due to his unique name, reflecting a trend of politically inspired naming."

"As Branson welcomes this distinctive addition to the community, many are curious about how young MAGA will navigate life with such a notable name. His story is just beginning, and it promises to be a topic of conversation for years to come," the post added.

Many fumed at the story in the comments section.

"They only called him that because the name they really wanted to go with was already too popular in their area. So many Adolph’s now," one wrote.

"That poor child, pure and innocent, thrown into a controversial life with that name," another lamented.

"This poor kid. Life is tough enough without having parents in a cult. I'm not optimistic, but hopefully, when he gets older, he will become educated as to what this name means, what it stands for, and why it's the wrong side of history. Again, not optimistic, but one can hope," a comment read.

"I’d like to hope that it is a 'non-funny' joke. Or that the person doing the 'naming' has a pathetic need for attention/notoriety. Or 'someone' is hoping, hoping, hoping that 'MAGA, Sr.' ( aka Trump) will see the post …and then bestow recognition/gifts/a personal meeting on baby and family !!!!!!!!" another chimed in.

Fact Check: The story is satire

None of this was real. The whole saga sprang from the Branson Area Breaking News page — a self‑professed parody outlet whose bio proudly declares, “We are a world-renowned satirical news organization & have received many awards for our breaking news stories!”

No legit news sites — whether you searched Bing, DuckDuckGo, Google, or Yahoo — showed a lick of proof that a “MAGA Trump Jr” had ever taken his first breath at Cox Medical Center Branson, fact-check website Snopes confirmed.

If you squinted at that photo, you might have noticed something funky. The lettering on both MAGA hats was garbled — the classic sign of an AI‑generated image.

That blurry, nonsensical text is a straight giveaway out of the generative‑AI handbook.

Snopes reached out to a “Margaret” listed as a manager on the Branson Area Breaking News page. She reportedly replied on Messenger, apparently craving more publicity for her satire page. Cox Medical Center Branson did not respond to the outlet's voicemail query.

Branson Area Breaking News is known for posting wild fiction. Snopes has debunked their previous claims, like that viral snap of “hundreds of black bears” swarming Highway 65 near Branson, and a rumor that St Louis officials planned to ship the Gateway Arch down to Branson.
