WASHINGTON, DC: Jennifer Piggott, a self-described "MAGA junkie" who voted for Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election, recently admitted that she regrets her decision.

Piggott informed CNN that she lost her job at the Treasury Department as part of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) purge led by Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, per HuffPost.

'MAGA junkie' Jennifer Piggott expected better from Donald Trump

Jennifer Piggott told CNN, "I cried. It’s a really scary thing, and I was embarrassed."

She added that targeting working-class Americans for layoffs "just doesn’t make sense" to her, per the outlet.

"I expected more from President Donald Trump," Piggott expressed.

Moreover, another worker at the same facility said that she retired rather than face a layoff to keep her health insurance. She also voted for Trump in the 2024 election.

She said, "I’m for balancing the budget, that type of thing, but not in this context. It’s just not right."

Notably, Piggott and others who were initially fired are currently on paid administrative leave as the layoffs are challenged in court.

Piggot had a message for the POTUS, as she said, "I expected better from you. I really did. I expected that you would do what was right and cut waste and fraud and all of those things that you promised us before we elected you in office, but you’re not doing that."

"You’re creating a disaster, and I don’t know what America is gonna look like if this continues," she added.

DOGE team defends federal layoffs

Elon Musk and seven DOGE staffers argued that "almost no one has gotten fired" during an interview on Fox News' 'Special Report' hosted by Bret Baier. They also shared their view on what government efficiency could look like, according to The Hill.

Musk and his DOGE staffers vowed to speed up modernizations of government systems and defended their work on the Social Security Administration.

Anthony Armstrong, who is working for DOGE at the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), said that most workers have departed the government "largely through voluntary means."

He said, "There’s voluntary early retirement. There’s voluntary separation payments. We put in place deferred resignation, the eight-month severance program."

"So, there’s a very heavy bias towards programs that are long-dated, that are generous, that allow people to exit and go and get a new job in the private sector," Armstrong added.

Further in the interview, Musk added that "basically, almost no one has gotten fired. That’s what we’re saying."

"I think in the context of the government, we’re moving like lightning. In the context of what I’m used to moving, it’s slower than I’d like," the Tesla CEO claimed. "So, what seems like incredibly fast action by government standards is it’s slower than I’d like, to be totally frank."

An Instagram comment read, "She got what she voted for. It was literally an open note test she didn’t study," while one added, "The only reason she’s regretting her choice is because she’s on the firing line."

A person said, "No sympathy, no empathy…don’t care. She only cared when it affected her," whereas someone else mentioned, "They only regret their votes when they’re personally affected."

"She was okay with others suffering as long as it wasn’t her," an individual remarked, while one more commented, "The fact that his plan was perfectly laid out for all to see, but people voted for him anyway."

"She wanted other people to lose their jobs .. not her. Got it," read another comment.
