Fact Check: Was Taylor Swift removed from Grammy nominations at Elon Musk's request?

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Pop icon Taylor Swift did not have quite the night she hoped for at the 2025 Grammy Awards in February as she lost in all six categories in which she was nominated.
The songstress was nominated for Album of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, and Best Music Video.
Now, rumors online claimed that Swift was removed from the Grammy nominations after a request by Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk. But is there any truth to this? Let us find out below.
Claim: Taylor Swift was removed from Grammy nominations on Elon Musk's request
In the last few weeks, online rumors claimed that a request from billionaire Elon Musk resulted in pop superstar Taylor Swift's removal from the list of Grammy Award nominees.
Several users on social media platforms like Facebook and Threads shared images of the multibillionaire and the pop icon along with captions that read "BREAKING NEWS: Taylor Swift Has Been Officially Removed from The Grammy Nominations Following A Request From Elon Musk To The Organizers."

Moreover, some posts also had links to articles about the alleged news on websites.
False: No evidence to support the online claim
The claim made in the online rumor is false as there is no evidence to support the claim that Musk successfully had Swift removed from the Grammy nominations, according to Snopes.
Interestingly, the posts did not mention for which year the Recording Academy allegedly removed the 'Love Story' singer's nominations. The 2025 Grammy Awards took place on February 2, days before the claim surfaced online, per the fact-checking outlet.

Moreover, even though Swift did not win any awards at the ceremony, the official Grammy Awards website listed her six nominations for the year, including Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Music Video, according to Snopes.
Furthermore, the Recording Academy announced nominations for the 2025 Grammy Awards in November last year and so far, the organization has not yet announced nominations for the 2026 awards.
Additionally, the official Grammy website still has Swift's name among the 2025 nominees and a simple Google search found no credible outlets reporting the claim.
Taylor Swift's rivalry with Republicans
The pop icon seemed to have a tense rivalry with Republicans as she has often supported Democrats and has been clear about her political stance.
Swift endorsed former Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 Presidential election and went on to lose a significant amount of support from Republicans and right-leaning fans.

The songstress significantly lost the support of her right-wing fans since she endorsed Harris in 2024. According to an NBC News poll from September last year, more than 47 percent of Republicans despised the pop icon.
Similarly, the same month, Swift expressed concerns about an AI-generated image falsely depicting her support for then-Republican nominee Donald Trump, which was reposted by Trump himself.

Referring to the fake AI images, the singer wrote on Instagram, "Recently I was made aware that AI of ‘me’ falsely endorsing Donald Trump’s presidential run was posted to his site. It really conjured up my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation."
Trump also slammed Swift for endorsing Harris back in September last year. He said after the first presidential debate between him and Kamala Harris, "I was not a Taylor Swift fan, it was just a question of time. She couldn’t, uh, you couldn’t possibly endorse Biden. You look at Biden, you couldn’t possibly endorse him."
He added, "But she’s [Swift] a very liberal person, she seems to always endorse a Democrat, and she’ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace."
