Fans convinced Rory McIlroy 'doesn’t know' Tom Holland despite 'Spider-Man' fame after awkward meeting
VIRGINIA WATER, ENGLAND: The world knows Tom Holland for his charismatic and agile portrayal of Spider-Man, but it seems golf superstar Rory McIlroy isn't among his admirers.
The two crossed paths on the driving range before the BMW PGA Championship at the Wentworth Club in England, where Holland made a friendly introduction, giving his name to the Northern Irish golfer.
Rory McIlroy's polite response to Tom Holland leaves fans in stitches
In a somewhat awkward exchange, Rory McIlroy greeted Tom Holland with a polite, "Hello Tom, how you doing?" but did not acknowledge Holland’s blockbuster roles or fame, leading fans to speculate that McIlroy might not be familiar with the web-slinging actor.
Although McIlroy may not have recognized Holland, young fans certainly did, with Holland graciously signing autographs as a true celebrity, as per Daily Mail.

Despite the Hollywood encounter, McIlroy's attention has likely been on other priorities this year.
Roy McIlroy discusses divorce reversal and reconnecting with what truly matters
Rory McIlroy, 35, shocked the world in May when he filed for divorce from his wife of seven years, Erica Mcllroy, just before the start of the PGA Championship.
In an unexpected turn, McIlroy reversed his decision a month later, canceling the divorce just before the US Open. He publicly stated that their “best future was as a family together.”
Amid the media frenzy, McIlroy chose to take a break from golf, skipping important tournaments as he focused on reconnecting with what mattered most to him.
Speaking openly on the Irish talk show 'Late Late with Patrick Kielty', McIlroy reflected on the challenges of the past year.
"I think sometimes life can get a lot and it can get too much. There's been a lot going on this year, golf wise and then obviously personal wise as well," McIlroy shared. "I had to take a little bit of a break and get away from the game more than anything else."

He admitted that golf, and the business surrounding it, had dominated his life, leaving little space for anything else.
He explained, "Golf and the business surrounding it had consumed me over the past few years. I needed some time away to realize what truly matters—friends, family, and enjoying the fact that I went from being a little boy in Holywood to whatever I am now. I need to savor that."
