Fans go wild as rumors of BTS' Kim Taehyung joining cast of 'Squid Game' Season 3 resurface

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: As ‘Squid Game’ Season 2 continues to rule over the fans since its December 26 premiere, the long-standing speculation of BTS' Kim Taehyung aka V's casting on Season 3 has once again come to the fore. 

After ‘Squid Game’ actors Lee Jung Jae and Wi Ha Joon gave cryptic responses when asked about Taehyung being a part of the show, the internet went into a frenzy over the probable casting. This follows rumors of Leonardo DiCaprio joining the cast of the Netflix show. 

Kim Taehyung's 'Squid Game' casting rumor goes back to 2021

The speculation of Kim Taehyung joining the stellar cast of 'Squid Game' is not new, as back in 2021 the South Korean singer dramatically donned the 'Squid Game' guard costume during a BTS' 'Permission to Dance On Stage' concert in Los Angeles.

Moreover, he also posed for a selfie with the show’s lead star, Lee Jung Jae, which the latter posted on his Instagram. 

The speculation grew further after Season 2 introduced a plethora of K-pop stars including former IZ*ONE member Jo Yuri, former BIGBANG singer T.O.P aka Choi Seung Hyun, and ZE:A's Im Siwan.

During an interview with BuzzFeed UK, Lee Jung Jae and Wi Ha Joon were asked about the possibility of V joining the stellar star cast, as per Mashable.

The duo neither confirmed nor denied the casting.

While their faces lit up at the mention of V, Lee Jung Jae said, "I can't say anything about that." Wi Ha Joon maintained a more cryptic stance, as he replied, "No comment."

'Squid Game' Season 3, the final installment of the show, is scheduled to premiere in June 2025.

'Squid Game' fans couldn't hold their excitement over the prospect of Kim Taehyung joining the show. 

One exclaimed, "Have been waiting for this for YEARS! Give us Taehyung in season 3 👀😭," and another said, "Actor Kim Taehyung #V is something I'm really looking forward to 🥰💜."

"Ok I'm telling y'all he's in the show? nobody's believing me but ik it by my heart 😭😭," noted another fan. 

An exuberant fan wrote, "Oh my god!!! Is tae’s ultimate villain role dream about to come true?!" 

"WHAT??? Woah!!! That they both jumped is kind of suspicious 😉," a person remarked on seeing Lee Jung Jae and Wi Ha Joon's Buzzfeed interview.
