Fans hail Jennifer Lopez's 'iconic reunion' with ‘Maid in Manhattan’ co-star Ralph Fiennes after 22 years

PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA: Jennifer Lopez’s fans were brought to tears after the actress reunited with her ‘Maid in Manhattan’ co-star Ralph Fiennes. 

Lopez, 55, and Fiennes, 62, starred together in the 2002 hit ‘Maid in Manhattan’, which, though, critically panned, received much applause at the box office, and emerged as one of the favorites of Lopez’s fans. 

Now, the leading cast of the fairytale love story met once again at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, held at the Parker Palm Springs resort, on January 4, when Fiennes brought Lopez on stage to present her an award, per Daily Mail.

Ralph Fiennes and Jennifer Lopez reunite after 22 years

The ‘Jenny From The Block’ songstress and the ‘Harry Potter’ legend met onstage during the film festival as Ralph Fiennes brought her onstage at Variety's 10 Directors To Watch And Creative Impact Awards.

In their 2002 hit, Fiennes portrayed the role of a Republican Senate candidate who falls for a hotel maid (Lopez) after mistaking her for a socialite.

After the British actor brought her on stage, Lopez joked, “We really must stop meeting in hotels like this,” referencing their film. 

They further posed for photographs as social media went into a frenzy over their celebrated reunion. 

Hailing Lopez for her “determination” and resilience through which she spends her life, ‘The Reader’ actor said, “Once upon a time in another life and perhaps in a different epoch of movie storylines, there was this Republican senatorial candidate mooching about in a hotel in Manhattan, and there was as well in this same other life a maid in this hotel.”

He continued, “This wannabe Republican senator was struck by her good looks, but he couldn’t quite truly see her. This maid was masking something in her demure and mindful way. She was sweet and charming, but actually she was concealing something.”

“She was hiding a kind of superpower. Behind this maid’s mask there was indeed a force, a force of creativity, a force of action, something so powerful which just couldn’t stop,” continued the veteran actor, while still referencing their movie. 

He added, “An unstoppable force was coming out of this humble and unassuming maid in the hotel, and this maid, in fact, possessed extraordinary wings that unfolded, and off she flew.”

“In this life, in this story, she has already been flying with determination from an early age, because I think she knows that she has something inside her which she must honor as she flies high,” Fiennes continued, as he showered praise on the ‘Hustlers’ star, “She is honoring and fulfilling her extraordinary creative spirit, and sharing it, shining a light on the lives of so many people, inspiring them and brightening their days,” he stated.

He further praised the star, by calling her an “amazing dancer and singer” and a “beautiful actor.”

Lopez, later took to her Instagram to thank the actor for his beautiful words, as she wrote, “I cannot thank you enough Ralph Fiennes for your beautiful words and for our little Maid in Manhattan reunion today. It was wonderful to see you. You brought tears to my eyes. (That’s why I was sniffling through my whole speech LOL).”

The star, who had a turbulent 2024 because of her divorce from Ben Affleck, continued to heap praises, writing, “I love you. Thank you so much…working with you was one of the great highlights of my career so far. I say so far because I hope I get to do it again someday soon for Maid in Manhattan 2…You never know…”
