NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA: Many fans tuned into Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show in anticipation of his performance of 'Not Like Us' - a song that takes aim at Drake.

However, eagle-eyed viewers noticed that Lamar seemed to take a dig at President Donald Trump. Trump, who was in the audience for the game, made history as the first sitting president to attend the Super Bowl.

Kendrick Lamar steals the show at Super Bowl halftime with powerhouse performance

Kendrick Lamar took the stage at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans during halftime, as the Philadelphia Eagles led the Kansas City Chiefs 24-0.

He performed a series of his biggest hits, including 'DNA', 'Squabble Up', and 'Humble', accompanied by singer SZA and DJ Mustard. Lamar, fresh off his five Grammy wins for 'Not Like Us', captivated the crowd with his dynamic performance.

Actor Samuel L Jackson, dressed as Uncle Sam, introduced Lamar and made several appearances throughout the show, interrupting him between songs. At one point, Jackson humorously told Lamar that his performance was “too ghetto.”

The NFL had previously removed the "End Racism" slogan from the field, replacing it with the phrase "Choose Love" – a decision that garnered criticism from many, particularly in light of Trump’s actions targeting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs, Huff Post reported.

In response to the backlash, NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy explained, “The Super Bowl is often a snapshot in time, and the NFL is in a unique position to capture and lift the imagination of the country."

McCarthy went on to say, “’Choose Love’ is appropriate to use as our country has endured in recent weeks wildfires in southern California, the terrorist attack here in New Orleans, the plane and helicopter crash near our nation’s capital and the plane crash in Philadelphia.”

While Trump has not yet publicly addressed Lamar’s Super Bowl performance, CNN’s Brian Stelter reported that the president left his box at the Caesars Superdome shortly before the performance ended.

This isn't the first time Lamar has called out Trump. He previously criticized the president in songs such as 2017’s 'The Heart Part 4' and 'XXX'.

Fans speculate Kendrick Lamar subtly aimed his performance at President Trump

Fans speculate Kendrick Lamar took a jab at President Trump during his Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show. A user on X (formerly Twitter) connected the imagery of Jackson as Uncle Sam and Lamar's performance, particularly considering Trump’s presence at the event.

A user wrote, "Samuel l jackson as uncle sam, the personification of america, telling kendrick his performance is "too ghetto" and then it cutting to kendrick's all-black backup dancers arranged as the american flag all while That Man is in attendance? kendrick i was not familiar with your game."

Another added, "Donald Trump is forced to watch Samuel L Jackson, dressed as Uncle Sam, introduce Kendrick Lamar at the super bowl half time show after asking the NFL to not show the "End Racism" In the End Zones is the Headline."

The third commentator remarked, "Kendrick Lamar dissed Trump and protested the United States in front of him and Trump got scared and left the Super Bowl early. It just doesn’t get any better than that."

"Waiting for Trump to say what a bad rapper Lamar is and that Trump knows rap better than anyone else," said a fan jokingly.

A person claimed, "Kendrick Lamar seems to have changed his lyrics to take a shot at Trump, who is also in attendance at the superbowl tonight… What did he mean by “The revolution is about to be televised, you picked the right time but the wrong guy”?"
