Fans worried as Justin Bieber raps about being ‘high’ in bizarre clip despite rep firmly denying drug use

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Justin Bieber is out here dropping bars about being “high” just days after his team shut down fresh rumors that he’s on drugs.
The 30-year-old pop star casually posted a shirtless Instagram video on Tuesday, February 25, showing himself vibing and munching on snacks while spitting some impromptu rhymes. “I fly like a fly guy, I fly high like a bagpipe, I go high like a bad guy,” Bieber rapped alongside a friend who was puffing on a cigarette.

The clip quickly sent his followers into a frenzy. Some were hyped for new music.
“I’m so desperate for new music I’ll take anything at this point like this gold right now !!!!!!! GO BIEBS,” one fan gushed.
Another declared, “Bieber is back 🔥,” while someone else called it “weird but cute.”
“Give him a Grammy rn !!!!!!🥵,” a fan raved.
But not everyone was on board with the carefree, snack-munching, rap-spitting Bieber. Some fans couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off.
“Drugs are bad, man!” one concerned follower commented.
"Stop doing drugs please 🙏🏾," another pleaded.
“You’re high, GO TO SLEEP!” someone else wrote.
Another worried fan chimed in, “I’m worried about Justin, he’s gone off his rocker 😢.”
The chatter about Justin being on something isn’t exactly new, but speculation is rife even after his rep denied those claims, Page Six reported.
Justin Bieber’s team claps back at drug rumors
After fans started commenting on Justin Bieber’s recent behavior, his team wasted no time shutting it all down. “The recurring narrative that Justin is using hard drugs is absolutely not true,” his rep told TMZ, insisting that the singer is actually “in one of the best places in his life.”
They went on to call the rumors “exhausting and pitiful,” adding that people just love to “keep negative, salacious, harmful narratives alive” even when there’s no truth to them.
The spokesperson also shared that 2024 has been a major year of change for Justin, explaining that he’s cut ties with “several close friendships and business relationships that no longer served him.”
One of the biggest shifts for him was becoming a father. Justin and Hailey Bieber welcomed their first child Jack Blues in August last year, and fatherhood has been his main priority.
So why did he look so drained in those viral NYC pics from February 1? According to his team, he was up late taking care of Jack and then hit the studio after the baby went to bed.
Still, the speculation didn’t stop there. Justin was spotted looking dazed at Hailey’s Rhode Skin pop-up in LA on February 18, and a video of him swaying inside the venue while wearing sunglasses indoors quickly went viral. Fans immediately assumed he was high.
Then, just a few days later, he was seen taking a smoke break with Dave Chappelle.
Justin Bieber’s history with drugs
Justin Bieber has been open about his struggles with substance abuse in the past, which is why some fans are extra worried. Back in 2020, he got real in his 'Justin Bieber: Seasons' docuseries, revealing that he first started smoking weed when he was just 12 or 13.
His drug use escalated quickly. According to USA Today, he experimented with lean (aka Sizzurp, a mix of Codeine cough syrup, soda, and candy), took pills, MDMA, and psychedelic mushrooms. At one point, he realized he had to make a change because he genuinely felt like he was dying.
"My security and stuff would come into my room at night to check my pulse," he recalled. "People don't know how serious it got. It was legit crazy scary. I was waking up in the morning and the first thing I was doing was popping pills and smoking a blunt and starting my day. It just got scary."
His former manager Scooter Braun also weighed in on that dark period.
"He's gone through a lot in a very short life," Braun explained. "You don't always agree with someone's decisions in that moment. There're young people making decisions that affect a lot of people and sometimes in those scenarios, you're gonna make the right the right decision, sometimes you're gonna make the wrong."
Meanwhile, Hailey once speculated that Justin’s struggles stemmed from undiagnosed “crippling anxiety” and that he was using substances as a way to self-medicate.
Looking back, Justin himself admitted that it was "just an escape.”
