Former pal reveals what 'super smart' Lauren Sanchez is really like ahead of her wedding to Jeff Bezos
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: As Lauren Sanchez prepares to exchange vows with Amazon founder Jeff Bezos in what’s expected to be one of the most high-profile weddings of the year, one of her former confidantes is shedding light on who the journalist really is beyond the spotlight.
Former 'The View' host Debbie Matenopoulos recently opened up about her early 2000s friendship with Sanchez, recalling long days on set, post-work cocktails, and the candid way their connection began.

“Lauren and I go back way back,” Matenopoulos told Daily Mail. “Lauren was on Good Day LA, so she was on from 7 am to 9 am. I was on from 9 am to 10 am with the same set, same dressing rooms, everything.”
“So, when I first moved to LA, Lauren became my good friend from work, and we would go out and have cocktails, and we hung out all the time,” she added.
Shortly after they became close, Sanchez confessed that she had auditioned for Debbie’s old job on 'The View' after her firing. “So that's kind of how we were connected. When I got to LA, she was like, 'I need to tell you something - after they fired you, I went and auditioned for your job,' and then we became friends.”
Although the two eventually drifted apart over the years, Matenopoulos still speaks highly of Sánchez’s character and drive, calling her “a force” with both brains and beauty.
“She is one of the hardest workers. She always was prepared, always looked amazing,” Matenopoulos said. “She did her own makeup. I mean, she's really a girl's girl. She's somebody that I think you'd always want in your corner. She's a very cool girl. She's super smart.”
Over the years, the two “lost track of each other,” Matenopoulos explained, but "we stayed connected."
She shared, “We had the same makeup artist for a long time, so we'd always keep in touch through her. I'd be like, 'Tell Lauren I said hello.”

Adding fuel to the buzz, Lauren’s brother Paul Sanchez gave TMZ a peek into what’s in store for the high-society affair. “It’s gonna be an amazing event,” he said. “It’s gonna be star-studded and fun.”
“It’ll be like a Princess Di thing,” he added, referencing the late Princess Diana’s fairy-tale 1981 nuptials to King Charles.
