‘Funny AF’: Lara Trump trolled as she leads legal challenge to post-election ballot counting in key states
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Lara Trump, co-chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC), recently spoke with Fox News about the party's legal actions in key battleground states regarding ballot counting procedures.
In a conversation with Maria Bartiromo, she emphasized the importance of ballots being counted by Election Day for a fair and transparent electoral process.
Trump specifically pointed to a recent lawsuit in Nevada, where the campaign aims to halt the counting of mail-in ballots after Election Day.
Legal battles ensue over post-election ballot counting
"You cannot have ballots counted, Maria, after elections are over. And right now, that is one of the many lawsuits we have out across this country to ensure that just that happens, that we have a free, fair, and transparent election," Trump explained.

The RNC, alongside the Donald Trump campaign, has initiated legal proceedings in multiple states, with Nevada being the focal point of their recent efforts.
Their aim is to challenge a law passed by Nevada Democrats in 2021, which permits the counting of mail-in ballots postmarked by Election Day up to four days after the election.
RNC Chairman Michael Whatley asserted that this extension violates federal law and undermines the integrity of the electoral process.
"Nevada’s ballot receipt deadline clearly violates federal law and undermines election integrity in the state. Ballots received days after Election Day should not be counted," stated Whatley.
Legal victory in Pennsylvania upholds mail-in ballot deadlines
Trump highlighted a successful legal outcome in Pennsylvania, where the campaign opposed efforts by Democrats to alter mail-in ballot deadlines. The court upheld the requirement for voters to date the declaration on their ballot return envelope, rendering non-compliant ballots invalid.
Despite opposition from groups like the ACLU, who argued against disenfranchisement due to minor errors, the court ruled in favor of the ballot-casting rule, which the RNC hailed as a significant triumph.
"A couple weeks ago, we won a big lawsuit in the state of Pennsylvania. They wanted to take off dates from mail-in ballots, of course, the Democrats in an effort to make it easier to cheat. We pushed back on that. We won," Trump added.
Legal interpretation and opposition: Pennsylvania's ballot date requirement
In the court’s opinion, Pennsylvania’s Judge Thomas Ambro wrote, "The Pennsylvania General Assembly has decided that mail-in voters must date the declaration on the return envelope of their ballot to make their vote effective. The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania unanimously held this ballot-casting rule is mandatory; thus, failure to comply renders a ballot invalid under Pennsylvania law."
The state’s branch of the ACLU had fought against that ruling.
Ari Savitzky, a lawyer with the ACLU’s Voting Rights Project, said in a statement, “We strongly disagree with the panel majority’s conclusion that voters may be disenfranchised for a minor paperwork error like forgetting to write an irrelevant date on the return envelope of their mail ballot. We are considering all of our options at this time.”
Looking ahead, Trump expressed the campaign's intention to deploy volunteer attorneys to polling locations nationwide to monitor the election process closely. Their goal is to prevent delays in ballot counting and ensure a timely outcome after Election Day.
