Furious Swifties roast Justin Baldoni for mentioning Taylor Swift in $400M lawsuit against Blake Lively
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Justin Baldoni’s $400 million counter lawsuit against Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, and publicist Leslie Sloane has sent shockwaves through Hollywood.
Yet, what really has social media ablaze is Baldoni’s indirect mention of Taylor Swift in the heated drama.
Justin Baldoni countersues Blake Lively alleging defamation and a 'takeover strategy' plot
The countersuit, filed on January 16, accuses Blake Lively of defamation, extortion, and interference with contractual relations, among other claims, alleging that she orchestrated a “takeover strategy” to wrest creative control of 'It Ends With Us' from Justin Baldoni.
In the filing, Baldoni detailed a meeting at Lively and Reynolds' New York penthouse to discuss her rewrite of a pivotal rooftop scene.
He claimed that what he anticipated as a professional conversation turned into an orchestrated ambush.
According to Baldoni, Reynolds showered Lively’s version of the script with praise.
Reportedly, then, to his alleged dismay, a “famous, and famously close” friend of the couple entered the room and similarly endorsed the changes.
Though Swift’s name was never explicitly mentioned, it didn’t take long for readers to connect the dots—especially considering Swift’s close friendship with Lively and Reynolds.
Despite not being named as a defendant or explicitly mentioned in the complaint, Swift’s presence in a key anecdote from Baldoni’s lawsuit has drawn the ire of her loyal fans—famously known as Swifties.
Swifties take to social media
The mere suggestion that Taylor Swift’s influence was weaponized in the ongoing feud between Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively was enough to ignite a firestorm on social media.
And they are not holding back as one Swiftie chimed in, "Justin baldoni not knowing he just placed generational curse on himself his family and everybody he’s ever known by dropping Taylor’s name in that lawsuit."
Someone else noted, "Justin Baldoni mention/coming for Taylor Swift was the worst possible thing he could do her fan base will DESTROY that man."

One comment declared, "I’m no legal expert, but it very much seems like he’s grasping at straws to try and discredit the victim. It also makes me think even more that he’s guilty. And he’s dragging the people Blake cares about into it to continue to hurt her."
Another observed, "As far as i know, Taylor Swift was not actually named in Justin Baldoni's lawsuit. Her name is mentioned in a screenshot of a text message but it wasn't anything negative about Taylor herself. I need people to separate Taylor from Blake Lively and her shenanigans."
As one person explained, "I'm convinced people are just reading news headlines and not the actual suit. Taylor's name is in the text messages including but not the lawsuit itself. Her so called friend used her like a deterrent to JB turning down her script edits. Gross."
"But also, Taylor is not named in the lawsuit. All that is alleged is that she said she liked BL's edit. I don't see how something that anecdotal would make you sway your relationship with Taylor and her music," another comment read.

It’s important to note that Taylor Swift is not a party to the lawsuit. Still, her fans have made it clear that they won’t tolerate her name being used to bolster Baldoni’s claims.
As the lawsuit gains traction, both Baldoni and Lively remain tight-lipped about the proceedings.
Swift's fanbase has made one thing crystal clear: her name is not a pawn in anyone else’s game.
“Taylor Swift can sell out entire stadiums for her tour, top the Billboard charts for weeks, and win multiple Grammys in one night. And yet, Justin Baldoni thought he could hint at her name in his lawsuit and get away with it. The audacity,” one TikTok user allegedly wrote, summing up the general sentiment.
A back-and-forth lawsuit of many layers that Blake Lively started
Justin Baldoni’s suit comes on the heels of allegations made by Blake Lively last month, accusing him of launching a smear campaign after she alleged harassment on set.
The situation has snowballed into a bitter legal battle between the two 'It Ends With Us' stars.
Months after rumors of tension between the co-stars circulated online, Lively, 37, claimed in a previously filed complaint that Baldoni, 40 — who also directed the film — engaged in “disturbing” and “unprofessional” conduct on set.
She further alleged that after filming ended, he orchestrated an extensive smear campaign to damage her reputation.
The lawsuit also names the film’s lead producer, Jamey Heath, along with Baldoni's production company, Wayfarer Studios, its co-founder Steve Sarowitz, and others, including Jed Wallace, Melissa Nathan, and Jennifer Abel, as participants in the alleged effort to harm Lively’s reputation earlier this year.
Bryan Freedman, Baldoni's attorney, responded to People, claiming the lawsuit is Lively's attempt to "fix her negative reputation."
He called her allegations “false, outrageous, and intentionally salacious with an intent to publicly hurt.”
Freedman further accused Lively of causing difficulties during production, alleging that she "threatened to not show up to set, threatened to not promote the film, ultimately leading to its demise during release."
