George, Charlotte and Louis set to attend their mother Kate Middleton's prestigious boarding school
WILTSHIRE, UNITED KINGDOM: Marlborough College, the prestigious Wiltshire boarding school where Kate Middleton once studied, is reportedly the top choice for her three children, with Prince George, 11, potentially leading the way.
After months of speculation, sources claim discussions have advanced to determining where George will reside on the sprawling 286-acre campus.
Prince George's security concerns shape housing decision
Security considerations are said to be paramount in deciding where the young royal will be housed.
According to insiders, C1 House—an all-boys' house located in the heart of Marlborough’s College Court—has been earmarked for Prince George.
A source told Daily Mail on Sunday, January 5, "Parents have been talking about nothing else, and discussions have really ramped up in recent weeks. Security is obviously a massive consideration. Prince George will have to be housed in an ‘in house’—these are the houses that are around the main quad of the school."
Marlborough’s "out houses," scattered along Bath Road, present a greater security challenge due to their location and the additional walking required, making them less suitable for the young prince.
Marlborough College's C1 House is steeped in royal history
C1 House, which could become Prince George’s home, has its own royal connection.
The building once belonged to the Seymour family, who later moved to nearby Wolf Hall.
Lady Jane Seymour, King Henry VIII’s third wife, was a member of this family, adding a layer of historical significance to the prospective choice.
If Prince George enrolls at Marlborough, he’ll join a distinguished list of alumni.
The school’s former students include renowned poets Siegfried Sassoon and John Betjeman, comedian Jack Whitehall, and Princess Eugenie, alongside, of course, George's own mother, the Princess of Wales.
Kate's siblings, Pippa and James Middleton, also attended the boarding school.
Kate Middleton rejected the idea of Prince George attending the Eton College
The Marlborough College decision comes after Kate Middleton reportedly declined to send Prince George to Eton College, the prestigious school often associated with "future kings."
According to The Royal Observer, royal expert Charlotte Griffiths shared with GBN, "I think this will be the year we find out where Prince George is going to school, and I don't think it's going to be Eton."
As per a palace insider, Kate believes "sending George to such a stuffy, upper-crust institution goes against all of their efforts to modernize the monarchy."
The royal couple was said to be weighing their options between Eton College, Prince William’s alma mater, and Marlborough College.
However, they were also said to be weighing a third alternative, St Edward’s School in Oxford, which comes with an annual fee of $58,000 (£47,000).
The school is believed to align with their vision for George’s education, and the couple reportedly toured the campus shortly before Kate underwent abdominal surgery.
A second insider revealed that Kate has long been hesitant about sending George away, despite royal tradition.
"Kate thinks sending him to such a stuffy, upper-class institution goes against all of their efforts to modernize the monarchy," the royal source explained, offering insight into the couple's deliberations.
