LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: George Clooney believes he is being unfairly labeled as a "scapegoat" in the intense blame game over who may have contributed to Kamala Harris' election loss and has decided to withdraw from political activities.

The 63-year-old Hollywood star endorsed Harris following a scathing op-ed that argued Joe Biden's continued campaign would jeopardize the Democrats' chances of victory. Despite this, the effort was insufficient to stop Donald Trump from securing a historic win.

George Clooney faces backlash from Democrats over Kamala Harris' defeat

George Clooney has faced criticism from Democrats for his role during the election, with some attributing Kamala Harris' defeat to him.

The Oscar-winning actor is "disheartened" by the backlash, with sources stating that he delayed endorsing Harris as he believed the Democrats should have "taken a step back" and considered their choices.

"George feels that the backlash he is getting for Kamala losing is not at all warranted," a source informed the Daily Mail. "He thinks it is completely unfair to try and make him a scapegoat for her loss."

"He has backed the Democratic Party and invested so much time and money into them, but he is going to take a step back for now. He feels very disheartened," the source further added.

They went on to say, "When he wrote his op-ed, George did not say 'Biden is not fit to be president choose Kamala.' The Democrats jumped on Kamala and within days she was the candidate. George believes that they should have taken a step back and looked at their options. That is why he did not endorse her right away."

George Clooney once said Democrats are 'not going to win'

In July, the actor known for 'Ocean's Eleven' wrote a scathing op-ed for The New York Times, urging Joe Biden to withdraw from the race, stating: "We are not going to win in November with this president."

The article was released less than a month following George Clooney's fundraiser, which garnered $30 million for Biden's reelection campaign.

Weeks later, Clooney expressed his support for Harris and her "historic quest," while thanking Biden for "saving democracy" by stepping aside in the race for his vice president.

However, the action has come under scrutiny from Democrats who assert: "It's all George Clooney's fault!"

Leading celebrities supporting Harris included Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Bruce Springsteen, Will Ferrell, and Arnold Schwarzenegger. On the other hand, Trump received backing from figures such as Elon Musk, Kanye West, Hulk Hogan, and Mel Gibson.

Internet urges George Clooney to stay out of politics

As news surfaced on social media about George Clooney's decision to step back from politics, there was a swift reaction from users.

A user said, "Maybe this should come as a warning to celebrities to stay out of politics! No one gives af about who they endorse and politicians turn on them if they don’t win!"

Another added, "Should have stayed out of it. Celebrity entitlement is getting ridiculous."

A third commentator remarked, "Can you promise this and relocate? We don’t need your negativity! I am sure Hollywood will move on without you!"

"Used to be admired as the macho George Clooney. He's now baptised as George Clown-ey and George cLooney-tune!" a critic wrote mocking the actor.

A person said, "Go back to playing make believe for a living. No sane person needs or wants your advice regarding politics and what's best for their family."

Another added, "Do you think George Clooney was used? I think he played and lost. Go away. You lost our respect."
