George Clooney’s marriage ‘in crisis’ after his failed political endorsement: ‘Amal won’t put up with it’
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: George Clooney’s marriage is reportedly “in crisis” after the Hollywood hotshot’s stirring endorsement of Kamala Harris failed to move rocks.
According to sources close to the ‘Wolfs’ actor, all is not well between him and his human rights lawyer wife Amal, 46, as his political alignment reportedly caused a strain between the married couple.
Speaking to RadarOnline, the source feared that since Clooney’s advocacy to install Vice-President Kamala Harris in the White House wasn’t fruitful, the ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ actor might have ended up looking like “another conceited, self-important celebrity.”
George Clooney and Amal’s marriage may suffer because of his political inclination
"George truly believed that his endorsement of Kamala Harris would move mountains, but it's only made him look like another conceited, self-important celebrity,” shared the insider while speaking to the outlet.
Not only did the actor’s crusading for Kamala Harris raise eyebrows but also his op-ed for President Joe Biden’s removal from the presidential race was feted with criticism.
"His op-ed calling for President Joe Biden to remove himself from the race was also met with a lot of rolling of eyes,” shared the source before adding, “The truth is that George's opinion doesn't carry as much weight as he thought, and he's been left with major egg on his face.”
As an aftermath of the presidential election, the source shared that Clooney’s “ego has taken a big hit and he's been moody, and Amal won't put up with it for long."
Moreover, the insider further highlighted that the tension has been aggravated because of Clooney’s Broadway plans. The actor is currently planning to work in a stage version of his 2005 movie ‘Good Night, and Good Luck.’
While the Oscar winner is excited about the opportunity, it would take him away from his wife and their seven-year-old twins Ella and Alexander for more than half a year.
"George is thrilled about the opportunity to star on Broadway, something he's never done before, and it will take his mind off his recent shaming in the political sphere," shared the source before adding, "But it will mean he has to spend six months in New York between rehearsals and performances.”
They added, "He and Amal are still figuring out how they'll manage the logistics, but there are downsides."
“He must relocate to Manhattan and Amal may not be able to visit often,” explained the source, before highlighting, "She'll have to remain in Europe, where their kids are very settled."
The source shared that while Clooney’s children largely maintain anonymity in Europe, "moving to Manhattan and keeping them totally out of the spotlight and their identities protected would be very difficult.”
They added, "Amal's work also requires her to be in Europe a lot, so that's another big consideration.”
"The couple may be separated for weeks at a time, which would obviously be tough for them. They already went through a period of spending a lot of time apart and it didn't do the marriage any good,” noted the source ominously.
The insider, nevertheless, concluded, saying, "They've managed to iron things out in the past and they'll have to tackle this new hurdle together and friends do hope they can."
George Clooney’s move to Broadway is deemed as his ‘vanity move’
As the 63-year-old actor is set to take the stage for the Broadway adaptation of his critically acclaimed 2005 film, George Clooney's close ones are reportedly left worried about the fate of their relationship.
Speaking to RadarOnline, a source shared that while he is "an absolutely doting dad," he will "struggle" with being separated from Ella and Alexander for such a long time.
"Of course, he'll miss Amal hugely too. George's hopes that the family will be able to make a long-distance living situation work for the duration of his New York stint won't be easily realized,” added the source.
Nevertheless, the source reflected on his stint saying, "It is seen by some as a vanity move because he hardly needs the money and surely time with the children as they grow up is more important.”
The source further added that there is also "some concern" about George Clooney's coping mechanisms if his Broadway debut fails to make noise as "Amal won't be directly on hand to pick up the pieces."
This, in turn, “has left some friends wondering if this says more about the state of their marriage. There has been talk of a possible split. Whatever the situation, the next six months will be a testing time for them both.”
