WASHINGTON, DC: Conservative attorney George Conway, a prominent 'never Trumper', offered a sardonic take on Donald Trump and his running mate JD Vance's conspicuous absence from the Labor Day campaign trail on Monday, September 2.

Conway highlighted a report from MSNBC which noted that both the Repubican presidential ticket were missing in action on the holiday.

Trump-Vance's quiet holiday vs Harris-Walz's active campaigning with union workers

George Conway took to X to quip, “Actually, Trump and Vance are better off the less people see of them,” suggesting that their absence might not be such a bad thing for their campaign.

While Trump and Vance were laying low, Democractic presidential frontrunner Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov Tim Walz, were making high-profile appearances with union workers in Detroit.

"You better thank a union member for the 5 day work week," Harris said in her speech.

"You better thank a union member for sick leave. You better thank a union member for paid leave. You better thank a union member for vacation time."

Their active engagement contrasted sharply with Trump’s muted presence, marked only by a few posts on his Truth Social platform. Neither Trump nor Vance participated in any public events on the holiday.

Harris campaign seizes opportunity to slam Trump’s Labor Day absence

The Harris campaign wasted no time in seizing the moment to criticize their opponents.

Spokesperson Joseph Costello lambasted Trump, stating, “Donald Trump is ditching workers on Labor Day because he is an anti-worker, anti-union extremist who will sell out working families for his billionaire donors if he takes power. Vice President Harris is the only candidate for president who stands firmly on the side of labor and working Americans, and she is fighting to build up the middle class by cutting taxes, lowering costs, and creating opportunity,” reported Huff Post.

As the campaign continues to ramp up, Harris’s team also took to X (formerly Twitter) to taunt the former president, amplifying the contrast between their active, worker-focused approach and Trump’s low-key holiday stance.

Social media divided over Trump and Harris' Labor Day stances

Social media users mocked Donald Trump’s Labor Day tweets, contrasting the former presidents unscripted interviews with Kamala Harris’ media appearances

"DonOLD," tweeted a user.

"I must have missed Kamala attending Arlington National Cemetery last week. Oh wait….she didn't," a second said.

"Trump, the keyboard warrior, worked hard to tweet about workers & Labor Day," a third added.

"Kamala is terrified of reporters. She still hasn’t done a live interview. Why is she so scared of a media that’s completely friendly to her?" questioned a user.

"Keep up, he did more unscripted interview in one day than Kamala Harris did since the coup," stated a user.

"So Democrats don't recognize Labor Day as a holiday? That's interesting," mocked another.

"Is this a joke? How Many Podcasts has Kamala done LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" read a tweet.

"What accent ya all using today and what not? Black, Asian? Southern? Midwest?" a user commented.
