NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Former President Donald Trump's latest divisive remarks have ignited a firestorm of controversy and criticism across the nation, as reported by NBC News.

During a recent campaign rally in Bronx, Trump made alarming claims that Chinese migrants are forming a sleeper cell army within the United States, stoking fears and prompting outrage from officials, advocacy groups, and the public alike.

"The number of people coming in from China. If you look at these people, they are physically fit, they are 19 to 25, almost everyone is a male, and they look like fighting age," Trump declared, stoking concerns about a potential threat.

"And I think they are trying to build a little army in our country? They want to get us from within. They are building something and have something in mind," he continued.

Trump's rhetoric aligns with his historically hardline stance on immigration. He has continued to advocate for aggressive policies aimed at what he perceives as a significant threat. These measures include the reinstatement of the 'remain in Mexico' policy and the Covid-era Title 42 policy, which allows for the swift expulsion of migrants.

Trump has also expressed his intent to use the National Guard and potentially federal troops to detain and deport illegal immigrants aggressively. He has consistently criticized the 'catch and release' practice and has vowed to detain all migrants caught crossing the border illegally or violating other immigration laws.

During his first term, Trump focused heavily on building a wall on the Mexico border, constructing 450 miles of barriers across the 1,954-mile border. If reelected, he has pledged to close the remaining gaps in the border wall.

According to a recent report by Time Magazine, Trump plans to introduce a comprehensive border security and immigration bill as one of his first legislative actions.

The arrest of more than 37,000 Chinese nationals at the US-Mexico border in 2023 drew significant attention, but officials like Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell have categorized these individuals as "economic migrants," dismissing Trump's claims of an impending threat due to the lack of supporting evidence.

Asian advocacy groups are particularly worried about the potential for increased harassment and violence toward the Asian community, which could be worsened by such inflammatory rhetoric. The real-life struggles of these migrants, who are striving for stability and safety, often get overshadowed by political narratives, South China Morning Post reported.
