Gloria Allred questions what ended Trump and Epstein's friendship
ATLANTA, GEORGIA: The Department of Justice released the latest batch of files related to Jeffrey Epstein on Christmas Eve, which included several mentions of President Donald Trump. Several people have since spoken out about the presence of Trump in the files, including the DOJ, which defended Trump, noting that while they were releasing all that they had related to the disgraced financier, mentions of the president were “unfounded.”
Attorney Gloria Allred, who previously criticized the partial release of the Epstein files, raised new questions related to Trump and Epstein on Friday, December 26, while speaking to CNN correspondent Phil Mattingly. She wondered why their friendship ended, noting that the president supposedly “dropped” his former friend before he became the president of America.
Gloria Allred says White House gave conflicting answers about Trump-Epstein friendship
While speaking to Phil Matingly, Gloria Allred said that she has heard different explanations from the White House about why Donald Trump ended his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein. She added that one of the explanations she received was that Epstein was a “pervert.”
She wondered why Trump believed Epstein was a "pervert," adding that the friendship had fizzled away before the revelations about Epstein’s crimes started to surface. Allred wondered whether Trump investigated the matter and whether he looked into the “misconduct” that Trump knew Epstein was “inflicting on underage girls, children, or adults.”
Allred also shared that she had heard a rumor that Epstein had placed a bid against a Palm Beach property that Trump was also interested in. This turned “bad will” between the two.
However, she clarified that she didn’t know the truth and said that everyone would have to “wait and see” why Trump and Epstein stopped being friends. She added that they would have to wait for the entirety of the Epstein files to be released to discover the last communication between the President and Jeffrey Epstein.
Trump claimed he distanced himself from Epstein before his arrest
After Epstein was arrested in 2019, the president distanced himself from the financier, including taking back praises he had previously sung of Epstein. When he was asked about calling Epstein “terrific” in 2002, Trump said that he wasn’t a “fan.”
He added that much like everyone in Palm Beach, he knew Epstein but had a “falling out with him” a long time ago. At the time, Trump added that he hadn’t spoken to Epstein in over 15 years.
On Christmas Day, Trump posted on Truth Social, criticizing those associated with Epstein. He called them “sleazebags” who dropped him like a “dog” when things got bad. He also termed Epstein a “disgusting person” and reminded everyone that the Trump administration had taken charge of releasing files related to the criminal.
