LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Kim Delaney, the actress known for her role in NYPD Blue, is facing a lawsuit from a motorcyclist named Dzhamal Badalov.

He alleges that she hit him with her car in Los Angeles over a year ago and then supposedly left the scene.

This isn't Delaney's only legal trouble, as TMZ reports that she's also facing criminal charges related to the alleged hit-and-run incident.

Eyewitnesses have claimed that Delaney, who has had past issues with alcohol, was driving in an erratic manner before the supposed collision occurred.

Legal documents obtained by TMZ allege that Kim Delaney collided with Dzhamal Badalov's motorcycle while he was stationary at a red light in November 2022.

This incident reportedly occurred after she was seen driving erratically on Venice Boulevard in Los Angeles.

Badalov asserts that witnesses observed Kim weaving in and out of lanes before the collision, which allegedly resulted in him being thrown onto the road.

He alleges that Kim attempted to leave the scene but was initially halted by bystanders.

According to Badalov, Kim exited her vehicle and made a phone call.

He suggests that her behavior indicated intoxication. He further alleges that the person she was speaking with tried to bribe him to avoid contacting the police, but he refused.

In his lawsuit, Badalov claims that the person on the phone instructed Kim to leave the scene, which he alleges she did. He is now suing her for damages related to the accident.

The outlet also reports that a criminal case has indeed been initiated against Kim in Los Angeles, and she has been charged with hit and run.

The allegations in the police report from that night, also obtained by the outlet, essentially mirror those in the lawsuit.

Kim is scheduled to appear in court next week.

Delaney's past record of DUI incidents

Delaney was reportedly apprehended in Malibu, California, in 2002 after declining a breathalyzer test when stopped by the police, leading to her arrest on suspicion of DUI.

Delaney subsequently entered a no contest plea to the charge, resulting in a fine, a compulsory DUI course, and two years of probation.

In the subsequent year, following her exit from CSI Miami, she reportedly enrolled in a rehabilitation program.

Her struggles with alcohol took a severe turn in 2005 when she lost custody of her then 15-year-old son, Jack Cortese, as reported by Daily Mail.

He reportedly gave a statement saying that she had endangered him by insisting him ride with her from a party, allegedly while under the influence.

He also alleged that she had tried to persuade his friend to join them in the car, but they declined due to her apparent state of intoxication.

Public reaction to Delaney's case

The internet responded swiftly, with some reminiscing about her role in Army Wives.

A user commented on Facebook, "Sad that she can’t get sober. She was fired from Army Wives for having a problem with alcohol."

One user claimed, "Another poor GH star alcohol has ruined them first Haley pulous now Kim."

"how many shows has she been fired from because of alcoholism?" noted another.

One person penned, "She has a history of alcohol abuse. Good Luck in court Kim."

"Katie Fuester, just like her army wives character," added another.

"Alcoholism is a horrible, debilitating disease and if you add abuse on top of that, it's got to be unbelievably difficult. Hopefully someone close to her can help her get control of her life," remarked another.
