LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Halle Berry called out the shady stuff that takes place in Hollywood over social media, sharing a resurfaced clip of director Matthew Vaughn explaining why he quit the 2006 film 'X-Men: The Last Stand', on Saturday, October 5.

The 58-year-old actress is renowned for her portrayal of the character Storm, also known as Ororo Munroe, in the original trilogy of the franchise, a mutant with the power to control the weather.

Vaughn was slated to helm the third installment of the series after Bryan Singer directed the first two. However, he quit before filming began, and the role of director was carried out by Brett Ratner. Vaughn later returned to direct 'X-Men: First Class' in 2011.

Matthew Vaughn's comment on deception in Hollywood

According to the Daily Mail, the clip showed Matthew Vaughn at the New York Comic Con in October 2023, claiming that Halle Berry was given a fake script by the executives at 20th Century Fox to get her onboard for the movie.

"One of the main reasons I quit 'X-Men 3', and this is a true story: Hollywood is really political and odd," he shared.

"I went to an executive's office and I saw an X3 script. It was a lot fatter. I asked, 'What is this draft?' They were like, 'Don't worry about it.'"

As the director, he stated that he could not let it go. "I grabbed it, and opened the first page, and it said, 'Africa. Kids dying from no water, and Storm creates a thunderstorm to save all these children' - I thought it was a pretty cool idea."

"I said, 'What is this?' They said, 'This is the Halle Berry script because she hasn't signed on yet. This is what she wants it to be. And once she signs on, we'll throw it in the bin,'" he continued.

The experience shook Vaughn, as he added, "I thought, if you're going to do that to an Oscar-winning actress who plays Storm, I quit; I thought, I'm mincemeat."

Berry did sign on for the film eventually, and then returned for the 2014 sequel, 'X-Men: Days of Future Past'. She also worked with Vaughn in 'Kingsman: The Golden Circle'.

Sharing the clip on X, Berry tweeted on Saturday, "Ya just never know the shady s**t going on behind ya back! Thank you Matthew Vaughn for bringing the dark to light."

Internet demands a solo Storm movie

Netizens reacting to Halle Berry's tweet shared their concern for her as well as demanded another shot for her to shine through the superhero character. The following tweets demonstrate their takes.

"They tried to play in Halle's face and she still was the top 3 billed cast and fan favorite!!" noted a fourth.

"Justice for Halle and Storm!!!" demanded a fifth.
