Hannah Berner apologizes to Megan Thee Stallion for ‘careless’ Oscars 2025 interview: 'No ill intent'

Berner had told the rapper that she listens to her music before she wants to "fight someone," leading to online criticism.

Hannah Berner says there was 'no ill intent' in her words
Following the backlash, Hannah Berner issued an apology on Instagram.
"Interviewing Megan Thee Stallion was a dream of mine," she wrote on her Instagram Story. "I love her music and it’s my go-to whenever I need to boost my confidence before a show," she added.

She acknowledged that her choice of words was poor. "Looking back at the interview, I wish I used any other word except ‘fight’ to describe how her songs impact me," she added.
"It was a careless choice of words and though there was no ill intent, I recognize and acknowledge that what I said has a deeper meaning and I am so sorry to Megan," she said.
Berner, 33, concluded her statement by thanking those who pointed out the issue. "I appreciate everyone who brought this to my attention," she added.
Megan Thee Stallion had tried to steer the conversation away
During the interview, Hannah Berner and her 'Giggly Squad' podcast co-host, Paige DeSorbo, praised Megan Thee Stallion for her confidence.
DeSorbo, 32, shared, "I start my day with you and only you." Berner then added, "No, your music has literally made me, like, when I want to fight someone, I listen to your music."

Megan, 30, appeared to shift the conversation, responding, "Because you want to throw that fighting s**t out the window and you want to get cute and be a bad b***h."
However, Berner continued, "When people are talking s**t, I go, ‘Turn on Megan Thee Stallion!'" Us Weekly reported.
She also mentioned being a big fan of Megan’s documentary 'In Her Words,' which premiered on Prime Video in October 2024.

Hannah Berner’s words quickly sparked criticism on social media.
"Hannah Berner has made a career out of being an insufferable dumb**s and she should’ve never been in a position to be interviewing Megan Thee Stallion in the first place," one user commented on X soon after the interview.
"It was so cringy," another wrote. One more added, "She should NOT have access to a microphone."
"Hannah Berner is so obnoxious omg. Why would she say Meg’s music makes her want to fight??? Is she serious????" another posted.

Stallion has previously spoken against physical violence. In a March 2020 interview with Genius, she explained, "Have I beat somebody’s a*s for a man? No. Oh, my God let me tell you fighting is so ugly."
She continued, "Look, nails long. Girls is paying $80 to get their nails done. … Do you know nails just go up. B***h, you want to fight me with these expensive a*s nails on? No."
