Hannah Waddingham tells Seth Meyers she fulfilled daughter's wish and had Leslie Odom Jr on holiday special

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Hannah Waddingham, the esteemed actress renowned for her remarkable role as Rebecca Welton in 'Ted Lasso,' recently shared an enchanting story on 'Late Night with Seth Meyers'.

She revealed how a simple yet distinct Christmas wish from her 8-year-old daughter profoundly influenced her latest Apple TV+ holiday special, "Hannah Waddingham: Home for Christmas."

To Waddingham's surprise, her daughter expressed her wish for Tony-winning 'Hamilton' star Leslie Odom Jr to join the show.

"I wanted to give her the opportunity to choose one of the guests for my special," the 'Ted Lasso' star said. "Literally, before I finished my sentence, she went, 'LESLIE ODOM JR, MUMMY!'"

Initially doubtful about securing Odom Jr due to his Broadway commitments, Waddingham was amazed when he accepted the invitation.

"But the call went out. And you know, of all my guests, I have to say, I think his and my voices really meld together," she expressed, referring to their duet performance.

Concerned that fulfilling this wish might be challenging due to Odom's busy schedule, Waddingham attempted to temper expectations.

"I don't think we'll be able to get him because he's probably busy doing a show," she remembered saying.

Nevertheless, despite Odom's Broadway commitments, the talented actor made time to join Waddingham for a soulful rendition of Charles Brown's 1960 classic "Please Come Home for Christmas."

Waddingham's holiday special also showcased appearances from her 'Ted Lasso' co-stars, including Jason Sudeikis, Nick Mohammed, Phil Dunster, James Lance, Juno Temple, Brendan Hunt, Kola Bokinni, and Billy Harris.

Reflecting on her recent Emmy nomination, Waddingham expressed her excitement, saying, "I cannot be cool about it at all. Am I allowed to swear? It's f***ing epic!"

Her role as Rebecca Welton in Ted Lasso has earned her a third Emmy nomination, adding another achievement to her illustrious career.
