WASHINGTON, DC: Former President Donald Trump has broken his silence on the possibility of Ron DeSantis in his administration if elected in November.

According to the Daily Mail, the leading candidate among Republicans mentioned in an interview with Fox News' Lawrence Jones that it is "highly unlikely" he would request the Florida Governor to join his prospective second administration.

"Well, it's probably unlikely but you know, I have to be honest, everything is a possibility, but I think it's highly unlikely. I have a lot of great people. And I have great people that have been with me right from the beginning," Trump said about his ex-rival's chances in the administration in the interview aired on Monday, January 22.

Donald Trump does not see a path for Nikki Haley

The Republican primary race has come down into a one-on-one race between Nikki Haley and Trump.

The former South Carolina Governor has given tougher competition to him in the Granite State than the Iowa caucus, and the ex-President visibly entered a stage of scathing criticism against her.

Speaking to Fox News, the leading GOP White House hopeful took a dig at Haley for running against him despite being a part of his first administration as UN ambassador.

"I don't see a path for her at all," Trump said about his rival's campaign.

"I would say with Nikki I haven't done anything. I'm very upset with her. She worked for me for two and a half years. She was okay. Not great. She was okay. She said to everybody, in fact, when she left, I would never run against the President," he continued.

Trump and Haley will face each other in the New Hampshire primary on January 23, which will be a massive factor in deciding who will grab the GOP presidential nomination and likely face Joe Biden in November.

Internet reacts to Trump's remarks on Ron DeSantis's future

Responding to Trump ditching DeSantis despite his endorsement, netizens concluded that the former President would not choose anyone who could outperform him.

One user opined, "Trump will never choose anyone who could possibly outshine him. Female Mike Pence? Sarah Huckabelle Sanders."

Another user remarked, "He has to win first!"  While another said, "Why would DeSantis even accept? Going from Governor of a large state or a Cabinet Secretary is a HUGE step-down."

"Of course. Trump just talks about MAGA and wouldn’t want his cabinet sullied with someone who would want to deliver it. It’ll be stuffed with neocons," read a response.

One user added, "Trump can't help but twist the knife even after DeSantis endorses him."

"This is such an intimidating bully... I’m a traditional Republican and I’m sick of him. All the Republican candidates have their policies, why does he think he is better? He is an embarrassment," stated a user.
