‘He hypnotizes the hosts’: Seth Meyers hilariously dissects Trump’s influence on Fox News anchors
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Late-night host Seth Meyers took a comedic dig at the uncanny influence Donald Trump continues to wield over Fox News hosts.
The 'Late Night With Seth Meyers' host pointed out Trump's recent phone rant on Fox News, where he dominated the conversation after securing significant wins in the GOP presidential race.
'Fox & Friends' hosts mesmerized
On the Wednesday, March 6, episode, a footage showed 'Fox & Friends' hosts appearing mesmerized by Trump's lengthy monologue.
Meyers said that Trump "hypnotizes the hosts into terrified silence". He likened the situation to "tourists watching a drunk Santa taking a dump on the sidewalk".
"It must be so weird if you happen to have Fox News muted when that happens,” said Meyers.
He humorously speculated on the experience of viewers, jokingly suggesting that they might wonder, "Are these hosts watching me? Am I the TV?"
Meyers mocks Trump's grand ambitions
Meyers touched on Trump's bold prediction of winning not just the presidency but also his former home state of New York.
"You look at what’s happened to New York and Chicago. You look at what’s happened to Los Angeles. We have a much different country in many ways, but also from a voting standpoint. They can’t go to hospitals, they can’t go to schools, they can’t use their playgrounds for their kids," Trump said in the telephonic interview with Fox News.
"We’re going to make a heavy play for New York. We’re going to make a heavy play for Virginia. States that generally don’t go Republican. I think they’re going to go Republican," he added.
Meyers sarcastically remarked on Trump's aspirations to win in a city that traditionally leans away from the Republican party, emphasizing the skepticism of New Yorkers toward the former president.
"Alright, first of all, you think you can win New York in a presidential election? You couldn’t even win a mayoral election."
Meyers takes aim at political double standards
Meyers humorously contrasted New York City's homicide rate with that of Alabama, questioning why Democrats don't reciprocate the disparagement directed at liberal cities by criticizing red states.
The host satirically mimicked Joe Biden making disparaging remarks about a hypothetical place like Tuscaloosa, stating, "Tuscaloosa -- you been there? It’s a hellhole, folks. I’m not kidding around here. There’s a Crimson Tide, alright, from all the murders. No joke, no joke."
Addressing the political landscape, Meyers noted the Republicans' return to Trump after distancing themselves from him following the Capitol insurrection.
He forewarned that the upcoming months would see promises and requests for votes from the Republican party
