WASHINGTON, DC: As speculations intensify over the potential Vice President in the event of Donald Trump's victory in the 2024 presidential election, GOP contender Ron DeSantis weighs in on the likelihood of Nikki Haley securing the position.

In a conversation with Fox News on Friday, December 29, the Florida Governor responded to the potential of Haley becoming the VP, saying she should rule it out as he did.

"She's positioning herself to potentially be in the running for that [Vice President]. I've categorically ruled out being VP. I think she should do that, so her supporters know where she stands."

The former South Carolina Governor's VP position made headlines after certain reports indicated that Trump was seeking his allies' opinions. Haley, whose campaign was shadowed by her refusal to admit slavery as the cause of the Civil War, also did not outrightly deny the possibility with a simple 'no' while answering a New Hampshire voter.

Despite DeSantis's opinion, Trump supporters are hardly fond of the idea.

For instance, the former President's son, Donald Trump Jr., vowed to "go to great lenths" to prevent Haley from the VP pick. Similarly, former talk show host Tucker Carlson explicitly opposed the idea.

Ron DeSantis questions if Nikki Haley is trying to be Trump's VP

Claiming that Haley "will not rule out being vice president" as she spends a lot of money "attacking" him, DeSantis questioned if she was "trying to defeat former President Trump" or whether she was "trying to be his vice president".

"She will not rule that out," said the White House hopeful.

He further argued that Haley has received support from the Never Trumpers, and they are "viewing her like the darling of Never Trump".

This is not the first time DeSantis has taken a dig at his rival contender's VP potential. On December 19, he launched a new website as part of his campaign titled 'Trump-Nikki 2024', accusing her of aiming to be Trump's VP.

His allegations raise speculations as Haley has refrained from commenting on the former President's legal battles and declared her willingness to pardon him if she wins. Haley has shown a steady improvement in the opinion polls as per FiveThirtyEight's analyses and is neck-to-neck with DeSantis for the second position.

Ron DeSantis trolled for his VP remarks

Social media users are on a laughing streak as DeSantis claimed he ruled out the possibility of becoming VP. Many mockingly questioned how he could rule it out when he was never asked in the first place.

One user remarked, "I think he ruled you out first."

Another user said, "LOL So when did Trump ask DeSantis to be his VP in the first place?"

"Much like DeSantis, I have ruled out being VP. Mainly because no one is asking," said a third user.

While another one wittily remarked, "I ruled out an opportunity that was never open to me... I don't understand why she won't do the same."

A fifth user questioned, "Does he seriously still think he has a chance?"

"Hard to categorically rule something out when there was literally 0 percent chance of it happening to begin with," read one reaction.

Another user added, "It's very easy to rule out accepting something that was never going to be offered, Ronny. Also, my guess is that if you were offered the VP spot, you'd accept it faster than the shake of a lamb's tail, so thanks for lying to everyone just now."
