LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: An Oscar snub cannot stop Bradley Cooper from being his best self to the children of 'Abbott Elementary'. As soon as the 96th Academy Awards ended, an episode of the comedy series ‘Abbott Elementary’ aired on ABC.

Cooper, 49, who remained Oscarless for the 12th time, did not let the upset come in his way from spending some quality time with the children of the show.

Cooper appeared as a special guest on Sunday, March 10 episode of the ‘Abbott Elementary’ where he interacted with the children while seemingly poking fun at his own Oscar snub.

Cooper, whose film ‘Maestro’ was nominated in seven categories at the 2024 Oscars, failed to win an award at the ceremony.

Though the televised program was recorded earlier, the makers probably weren’t expecting Cooper to win the Best Actor Award for ‘Maestro’ as the the dialogues used in this episode of the TV show used unadulterated humor to address the scenario.

In the beginning of the episode, Cooper enters the class as the guest of a second grader. However, comedy ensues as the children keep mixing up his movies, per New York Post.

“I just loved you in ‘The Holdovers.’ It was just so heartwarming,” said Barbara (Sheryl Lee Ralph), referring to the film whose lead actor Paul Giamatti also received a Best Actor nomination this year.

Gregory (Tyler James Williams) rectified Sheryl as he said, “It’s ‘The Hangover' and no it’s not.”

As Janine (Brunson) says, “Guys, he’s literally in a critically acclaimed film right now,” Melissa replies, “Mhm, ‘Oppenheimer.’”

Mr Johnson (William Stanford Davis) contributes to the conversation as he asked, “Is that the one about Napoleon?”

As the confusion starts brewing, Cooper interrupts to share, “I wasn’t in ‘Oppenheimer.’”

As Ava (Janelle James) curiously asked, “Are you sure? Everybody was in ‘Oppenheimer,” another student explains why he brought the actor, “Everybody wanted to take a picture with him, so I figured he was famous.”

Another child then asked him whether he was in ‘Spider-Man’, and Cooper said that though he wasn’t in that franchise, he was in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’.

As the show is set in Philadelphia where Cooper grew up, he shared with the children in the episode, “Whenever I’m in Philly, you know the deli across the street? That’s my first stop. My dad used to always take me there. They have the best hoagies in the city.”

The 2024 Oscars wasn’t the only time when Cooper remained awardless as in the past he was nominated for ‘A Star Is Born’, ‘Silver Linings Playbook’, ‘American Hustle’ and ‘American Sniper’ among others, but failed to take home the golden trophy. This year, Cillian Murphy won the Best Actor award for ‘Oppenheimer’.

Internet trolls Bradley Cooper's 'Abbott Elementary' visit amid failed campaign for 'Maestro'

A section of social media users was not impressed with Bradley Cooper's skit in 'Abbott Elementary' as they trolled the actor for using the appearance for a late promotion for 'Maestro'.

One of the social media users referred to the show's content and said, "I was waiting for him to ask if anyone watched maestro to absolute silence."

Someone else quipped, "Trying to get his Oscar anyway he can."

"Now he’s desperate for a Emmy," said someone else.

"Only way he can be in something award winning now," added another one.

Someone else quipped, "He want at least an Emmy at this point isn't he?"

"Maestro campaign happened a little too late my guy," quipped another user,

Someone else added, "Fantastic his Oscar bait failed in such glorious fashion."

Quinta Brunson gushes about Bradley Cooper

While Cooper's skit did not sit well with some of the fans, the show's creator and star Quinta Brunson wasn't being parsimonious while praising the 'Maestro' actor.

Brunson talked about roping in Cooper for the skit to Variety, and said, “Bradley was actually incredible. He had a hectic schedule, of course, but was as eager to make it work as we were."

She continued, "We talked about the best creative way to have him join us for a cold open. Since he’s a local (to Philly) it was easy to imagine he was visiting his favorite deli."

"Besides that, he was lovely on set. Super kind and cool to the cast, crew and kids," gushed Brunson and added, "He walked down to meet the crew before it was even time for him to film. It was awesome, and it was a joy to act with him.”
