'Gets worse and worse': Internet shocked as Jimmy Kimmel jokes about Bradley Cooper 'dating' his mom

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jimmy Kimmel earned the status of being 'unfunny' at the 2024 Oscars by social media users after he went on to mock actor Bradley Cooper for bringing his mother to the awards and suggesting that they might be romantically linked.

Kimmel received huge flak from reel-life Tony Stark aka Robert Downey Jr's fans on social media after he made a joke about the actor. Kimmel was ready with his opening monologue to start the awards ceremony, however his joke on Downey's past addiction struggles landed him in hot water with the actor's fans.

Former POTUS Donald Trump also went on to display his usual nature of ranting as he posted a note on his platform Truth Social, calling out Kimmel for his hosting skills and suggesting that he should be replaced. Trump also accused the awards ceremony of being rigged. 

Jimmy Kimmel roasts Bradley Cooper's dating life

The New York Post reported about Kimmel's quips at Cooper during Sunday night's awards ceremony. Kimmel wasted no time poking fun at Cooper's choice of date, his mother, Gloria Campano. "Bradley you brought your mom to the show tonight," Kimmel quipped.

Turning to Gloria, Kimmel greeted her with, “Hi, Mrs Cooper. How are you?” in his opening monologue.

But Kimmel wasn't couldn't resist teasing Cooper about the actor bringing his mother constantly as his date at award shows, noting, "Bradley brings his mother to every award show. She was your date last year at the Oscars, and the Tonys, and the Soul Train Awards. It's very sweet. But I guess the question is, how many times can one bring his mom as his date, before he is actually dating his mom?"

Kimmel then, took it a step further, teasing Cooper about working on a 'movie about Freud' movie secretively. "Are you working on a movie about Freud right now and not telling us?” he joked, referencing Sigmund Freud's complex relationship with his own mother.

Freud, as the New York Post pointed out, famously coined the term Oedipus Complex, which delves into a boy's unconscious infatuation with his mother and feelings of rivalry with his father.

While Kimmel's comedic roast had the audience in stitches, not everyone found it amusing.

Some social media users weren't too thrilled about Kimmel poking fun at the 'Maestro' actor's choice of date.
