Here's how Justin Timberlake managed to get DWI charges dropped in Sag Harbor case
LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK: Justin Timberlake has reached a deal with the authorities over his Sag Harbor arrest in June.
The ‘Carry Out’ crooner has agreed to a plea deal, in which he admitted to a traffic violation.
Justin Timberlake won't face any criminal offense, DWI charges will be dropped
The singer-actor is set to attend his Friday, September 13, DWI court hearing in person, according to a spokesperson for the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office, reported NBC.
The hearing is scheduled at the Sag Harbor Village Justice Court on Long Island in New York.
Timberlake was arrested in June after being pulled over for allegedly driving intoxicated. As per documents, the artist crossed the stop sign in the affluent Hamptons area of Long Island just past midnight.
Timberlake was arrested after failing his field sobriety test and was later released after being arraigned. However, back then he pleaded not guilty.
As per the complaint, the 43-year-old was pulled over by Sag Harbor Village police officer Michael Arkinson, who said that Timberlake admitted that he only had "one martini."
The officer however mentioned that his "eyes were bloodshot and glassy, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath, he was unable to divide attention, he had slowed speech, he was unsteady afoot."
Internet furious after Justin Timberlake gets away with DWI charges
Netizens shared their opinion on the singer's plea deal with authorities, according to which, Justin Timberlake agreed to traffic violation and skipped his DWI charges.
A user opined on X over the plea deal, "Meanwhile, a drunk driver just killed 2 brothers on New Jersey a few weeks ago but let’s keep letting people get away with it, what a joke."
"Getting off while driving drunk is a win now? You’re gross," the second wrote referring to DWI charges being officially dropped.
"‘If he claims he is innocent then why take a plea deal?’ You never take anything to a Jury when prosecutors are offering a plea deal with no punishment. Juries are unpredictable and can easily be influenced by the media. They also often put great weight on police testimony," another questioned.
An individual slammed, "You don’t have to be white… You just have to be wealthy."
"And Tyreek meanwhile was face down on pavement and in cuffs for speeding," one user compared.
A user felt, "They made the right choice considering how many people corroborated HIS story and not the other versions."
