CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: Former secretary of state and 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton was greeted with a two-minute standing ovation at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago on Monday, August 19.

As Clinton entered the stage with Sara Bareilles' 2013 hit 'Brave' playing in the background, she was met with a two-minute standing ovation from the audience, which included Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz, Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, and former House speaker Nancy Pelosi.

“Thank you so much. Thank you,” Clinton said, as she attempted to begin her speech multiple times. “Thank you all so much.”

Hillary Clinton expressed her gratitude to the audience until the commotion subsided, allowing her to commence her speech, according to Mediaite.

“Wow, there’s a lot of energy in this room, just like there is across the country,” she went on to say. “Something is happening in America. You can feel it. Something we’ve worked for and dreamed of for a long time.”

She further added, “First though, let’s salute President Biden. He has been democracy’s champion at home and abroad. He brought dignity, decency, and competence back to the White House, and he showed what it means to be a true patriot. Thank you Joe Biden for your lifetime of service and leadership!”

Subsequently, the audience burst into chants, “Thank you, Joe!”

Vice President Kamala Harris was met with a substantial standing ovation on Monday following her unexpected appearance for a speech. Echoing Clinton, Harris began her address by expressing gratitude to Biden for his "lifetime of service."

Internet feels Hillary Clinton 'deserved' the standing ovation

As soon as the video of Hillary Clinton receiving a thunderous standing ovation at the DNC in Chicago went viral, social media users hailed the former secretary of state and said she "deserved" the applause.

One user said, "Well deserved. She was superb."



 

Another added, "I bawled my eyes out from beginning to end. Hillary deserved that ovation.."



 

One commentator wrote, "She deserved every damn second of this. Thank you, @HillaryClinton!"



 

"This is quite an emotional 1 minute and 40 seconds + of standing ovation and strong reception," another said.



 

One supporter said, "It was a good 3 or 4 minutes. Amazing. I teared up. She is a f**king rock star!"



 

"Hillary Clinton deserve all the praise. Such a strong woman that endured so much. Her intelligence, strength, and love of country are a beautiful thing," another remarked.
