HARRISBURG, PENNSYLVANIA: Senator John Fetterman (D-Pa), criticized members of his party who have augmented their scrutiny of President Joe Biden in the lead-up to the November general election.

Fetterman expressed concern that such criticism could inadvertently aid former President Donald Trump's efforts to regain power.

During an MSNBC interview, the senator noted a recent uptick in such criticisms and suggested that those Democrats might as well wear "MAGA hats," referencing the former president Trump's campaign slogan, according to a report from The Hill.

Fetterman's comments underscore the delicate balance that Democrats face as they seek to hold onto their majorities in Congress while also addressing the concerns of a diverse coalition of voters.

What did Fetterman say in his interview?

During his appearance on MSNBC's 'Morning Joe' on Thursday, February 22, Sen John Fetterman expressed his confidence in the victory of President Joe Biden in his home state of Pennsylvania, a state which the latter won in the 2020 presidential contest.

Sen Fetterman believes that this victory in Pennsylvania will propel President Biden to a second term in office.

“The president is going to win here in Pennsylvania, and I’ve always believed that whoever wins Pennsylvania is going to be the next president as well, too,” Fetterman predicted in the interview.

“This is going to be difficult, and we all have to lean in on that,” he added.

Fetterman then went scorched earth against dissenting voices within the Democratic party who have been more critical of President Biden than his presumptive Republican opponent, Donald Trump, ahead of a crucial general election at the end of the year.

Fetterman remarked, “I don’t understand why. I don’t know what’s in it for you to do that whether you’re just chasing clout or you want to make it in the news or anything like that.”

“But if you’re not willing to just support the president now and say these kinds of things, you might as well just get your MAGA hat, because you now are helping Trump with this,” the Pennsylvania Democrat argued.

Senator Fetterman is notorious for firing barbs at fellow party members as evidenced by his telling off of political strategist James Carville to "shut the f‑‑‑ up" when Carville suggested that Trump could beat Biden in the general election.

Carville also expressed concern about Biden's age, which he believes is a legitimate issue among voters and has contributed to his decline in the polls.

In September, Carville stated that if the Democratic Party had a candidate under 60 years old, they could win 55 percent of the vote against Trump.

Internet divided over Fetterman shutting down Democrats doubts about Biden’s chances

People on X expressed their reaction to Senator Fetterman insisting the Democratic party members stick together and back President Joe Biden in an all-important election year.

One X user remarked: “I guess his brain stopped working again."

Another user said: "No room for dissenting opinions in the Democratic Party"

Another user quipped: "2016 called, they want their tired rhetoric back"

One user wrote: "Sen. John Fetterman is a friggin' force of nature. I am elated that he's made such a fast and full recovery. In fact, I think he's sharper than ever. And he's 100 percent right: Dems who continue in their Biden bashing have inadvertently (or on purpose) become Trump boosters."

Another X user claimed: "Every Democrat who tries to shame a person into voting for Biden is helping Trump way more than anyone who's refused to vote for either of those genocide cheerleaders."

Finally, this user tweeted: "Yes, nothing says “I’m fighting for democracy” like refusing to criticize the president."
