Hunter Biden may get presidential pardon as experts believe he'll be sent to ‘laid back’ seaside prison
WILMINGTON, DELAWARE: First Son Hunter Biden may face a relatively brief period of incarceration in a comfortable California prison facility, where amenities such as yoga classes and proximity to the ocean may be available.
Legal analysts believe that despite being found guilty on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, of falsifying information about his substance abuse to purchase a firearm in 2018, the 54-year-old may not receive the maximum 25-year sentence, if sentenced at all, due to these being his first criminal convictions, the New York Post reported.
What did legal analysts say regarding the possibility of Hunter Biden’s imprisonment?
Wall Street Prison Consultants director Larry Levine said, “My guess is they would send him to Lompoc,” referring to Federal Corrections Institute Lompoc on the California coast roughly two hours northwest of Hunter Biden’s Malibu estate.
“It’s a prime location,” Levine added. “It’s nice. I was there. It’s near the ocean, it’s got good climate, it’s a park-like setting. It’s laid back.”
Levine, who spent ten years in eleven different federal prisons on drugs and firearms-related offenses, recounted his time in Lompoc, saying, “There’s an airport nearby, the food’s not that bad. The staff isn’t cuckoo.”
Based on his understanding of federal sentencing, Levine told the aforementioned outlet that President Joe Biden's son will likely serve a sentence of no more than 36 months in prison, and if he behaves well, he might be out in half that amount of time.
“Normally somebody with a gun charge, they would send you to alow-securityy institution,” Levine claimed, speculating that someone as high-profile as Hunter Biden would be transferred to a minimum-security prison facility such as Lompoc.
“It’s not like you’re going to summer camp, but they don’t lock the doors. It’s a lot of white-collar people hanging out, talking about their crimes,” he explained.
In Lompoc, it is expected that Hunter Biden would have the opportunity to engage in physical exercise at the prison gym, utilize the track, partake in yoga sessions, and spend leisure time reading from the library or receiving books through the mail.
According to Levine, it is likely that he would be granted up to five visits per month, lasting between two to six hours each.
Additionally, Hunter would be allowed approximately 500 minutes of telephone calls each month.
During his time in jail, it is expected that the First Son would be assigned a prison job during the day.
These responsibilities might include dishwashing in the prison cafeteria, working in food service, janitorial duties, or clerical work, for which the compensation is estimated at $5.25 per hour.
Given Hunter Biden's status as the son of the 81-year-old President of the United States and the first child of a sitting president to be convicted of a crime, it is within his entitlement to receive a Secret Service detail, which would likely accompany him in his incarceration.
This arrangement may facilitate the provision of a private living space detached from the general prison population.
“He’s not going to live in the normal housing unit, they can put him in his own room,” Levine claimed. “They might cordon off an area or have him living in an office.”
“They will put him in a bunk, and he will have two or three Secret Service officers living with him,” he added.
Hunter Biden may be designated to other similar correctional facilities, such as the low-security FCI Terminal Island in Los Angeles.
This particular facility is known for providing a relatively comfortable environment for white-collar offenders, a notable example being Theranos COO Sunny Balwani.
Another possible location is the FCI Victorville Camp, a minimum-security prison situated approximately two hours north of Malibu.
