Hunter Biden urged to increase child support to Lunden Roberts amid reports of lavish lifestyle
WASHINGTON, DC: Former first son Hunter Biden may have to give an additional amount to his ex-girlfriend Lunden Roberts, as her lawyers claim that Biden’s lifestyle has improved, contrary to his claim that he is “broke.”
The demand originates from Biden’s alleged lavish lifestyle featuring gourmet food and a mountain home with ocean views.
Hunter Biden asked to increase child support amid ‘broke’ claims
A judge in Arkansas has told Hunter Biden to submit detailed financial information, including his tax records, and sit with the lawyers representing Lunden Roberts for a formal questioning process.
This is aimed at assessing Hunter’s financial situation to demand an increase in the current $5,000-per-month child support to Lunden Roberts. Hunter has a 7-year-old daughter, Navy Joan Roberts, with Lunden Roberts.
The ruling was part of Roberts' attempt to make Hunter increase the child-support amount since his “style of living is higher than it was previously,” Roberts’ lawyer, Clint Lancaster, argued during a video hearing, according to a transcript obtained by The New York Post.
However, Biden and Roberts were not present at the court for oral hearing.
Hunter has more money now, says Roberts lawyer
Lancaster argued that Hunter now has more money than he had in 2023 when he settled the matter with Lunden Roberts, claiming that Biden lives in a stunning home “on the hill overlooking the ocean” in California.
Lancaster further argued that Hunter’s overseas trips and visits to upscale restaurants in Nantucket, a well-known destination for the wealthy, reflect a lifestyle far wealthier than he claimed to have, and hence, he should increase the child support amount.
The lawyer also argued that Biden’s estranged daughter is at an age where she has started to realize that she is living a far different life than her estranged half-siblings.
Biden has four other children, three of whom he shares with ex-wife Kathleen Buhle and one he has with current wife Melissa Cohen.
Biden says he is homeless and in debt
After the fire engulfed Biden’s Pacific Palisades rental property, leaving it unlivable in January 2026, Hunter Biden had claimed that his financial situation had taken a major nosedive since late 2023.
“This significant decrease in revenue has also impacted my ability to pay off my significant debt, which as has been reported in the press as being several million dollars,” he confessed in a court filing in March 2026.
“As a result of this, I am not in a position where I can borrow money,” he added.
Earlier in April, the document submitted in a Washington, DC, civil court by Winston & Strawn LLP, which previously represented Hunter in several criminal cases, revealed that the former first son has not paid a significant portion of fees to his legal team.
Hunter Biden reportedly cannot even afford a specialized legal team to assist him with the lawsuit due to limited income.
Hunter has reportedly left the United States over mounting legal trouble around unpaid fees for lawyers.
