THE VILLAGES, FLORIDA: President Donald Trump on Friday, May 1, revealed that the first lady Melania Trump "hates" that he dances to the "gay national anthem" to close out his rallies.
Even though she has repeatedly urged him to drop the routine dance, the president has kept the disco classic as a signature part of his political identity.
Trump reveals Melania told him not to dance to 'YMCA'
While addressing a crowd of senior voters at The Villages Charter School in Florida, Trump joked about his wife’s disapproval of his 'YMCA' dance moves.
“She hates when I dance, too, at the end,” he told the crowd. “She hates when I dance to what’s sometimes referred to as the gay national anthem. You know that? She hates it.”
He noted that the first lady prefers a more refined approach, recalling her telling him, “Darling, please don’t dance. It’s not presidential.”
Trump dismissed the critique, however, telling the audience, “It may not be presidential, but I’m leading by 20 points in the polls or something.”

Trump claimed credit for recent success of 'YMCA'
Furthermore, Trump also took the opportunity to claim that his use of the 1978 track by The Village People is the reason for its renewed popularity on the music charts.
He suggested that his rallies have given the song a second life, telling the crowd, “You know, that song was No. 5, 32 years ago, and it went to No. 1, 32 years later. There’s never been anything like it. It never hit No. 1. It was No. 5, 32 years ago. And it went No. 1 for months during the last months of the game.”
He emphasized the connection his movement has with the track, simply stating, “We love that song.”
Trump returns to stage in a 'secure place'
Following the recent security scare during the White House Correspondents' Dinner, Trump expressed his eagerness to get back to public speaking, choosing the retirement community specifically for its safety and loyal support.
“They want me to be in a secure place. I said, ‘What’s more secure than The Villages?’” he told the cheering audience while he was met with chants of “USA! USA!” from the crowd.
The 94-minute event, held under a “Golden Age for Your Golden Years” banner, focused on his administration’s efforts to reduce taxes on Social Security benefits, a policy long sought by older Americans.
